Losing someone you love is so hard. I have been through it more times than I care to admit, beginning with my mother when I was 18.
Someone I used to work with just lost her father this week so I decided to make a special card for all of us to write comforting messages inside. My friend loves flowers and so I chose paper and an image that would reflect this. I really like the Healing Hugs stamp set but the phrases didn't suit so I combined it with my Sorry for Everything set for the words.
Here are some of the products I used. Click here to link over to my Online Store to place an order for these or other products!
The layout I chose was easy - I copied one of my own cards that I recently made - click here to see this same layout using some of the same products!
Healing Hugs Sympathy card
I decided to choose the larger 'sorry' phrase for the envelope rather than on the card itself. I do love how my card looks even though it is for a sad occasion. Try my layout idea the next time you craft a card.
This week a good friend at work lost his father which makes all of his friends feel very sad for him. I decided to make a sympathy card using this week's Paper Craft Crew card map challenge:
The perfect stamp set for sympathy and get well cards is Sorry for Everything. This set has been around for a while but it has taken me a while to add it to my collection and for times like this I am grateful that I did.
Here are some of the products I used to make my card - remember that if you place an order of $50 or more in August you will get a $5 coupon to redeem in September (perfect timing for the Holiday catalog launch).
I decided to keep my colors muted to feature the 'Sorry' phrase. The Twinkle, Twinkle designer paper pack had the perfect pattern and colors for my card: Pool Party and Gray Granite - both of which have a more masculine feel to me. As I decided not to have three phrases on my card front to match the card map perfectly, I ran a long strip of Gray Granite across the front of the card to break up the two phrase pieces. The coordinating Silver & Pool Party Baker's Twine add the final touch to complete my card.
Here's my card:

I am delighted to share a brand new product suite coming in the new Annual Catalog! Introducing: Nature's Poem! This gorgeous product suite includes the Rooted in Nature stamp set (two containers, 16 pieces), Nature's Poem designer paper and stunning accessories. Rooted in Nature is a year-round bundle (12 framelits) inspired by nature; it works well for both men and women. It was designed to coordinate with Lovely as a Tree!
I love this suite so much that I am sharing one card idea with you today. This 'thinking of you' card uses the paper, Rooted in Nature stamp set and Leaves Trinkets. All of these products (and more!) will be available for you to order on June 1st - not long now!
Tranquil Tide card base: 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2” then folded
Soft Suede: 4” x 5-1/4”, 3” x 3”, 2-3/4” x 2-3/4”
Designer Series Paper: 3-3/4” x 5”
Whisper White: 3-1/2” x 3-1/2”
Mint Macaron and Crumb Cake twine: each 7-1/2” and 3”
Choose DSP sheet with Tranquil Tide background with stripes on reverse. Cut vertically 1-1/4” making sure stripes are vertical. Using SNAIL adhere the two pieces of DSP to the Soft Suede piece so they are touching.
Run SNAIL along DSP seam and adhere Crumb Cake ribbon. Attach to back of cardstock with SNAIL.
Lay Crumb Cake and Mint Macaron twine over ribbon and attach to back of Soft Suede piece with household tape. Tie one short strand of each twine onto lower portion of long twine. Set aside.
Stamp off twice then stamp assortment of leaves with Mint Macaron, Tranquil Tide and Soft Suede onto Whisper White cardstock taking care to cover area at least 2-3/4” for later die-cutting.
Using full strength Tranquil Tide, stamp sentiment on top of the background you just stamped. Cut out with 2-3/8” circle from the Layering Circle Framelits.
Using the 2-1/2” scalloped circle and 2-3/4” circle dies, cut out two Crumb Cake circles.
Adhere sentiment piece to scalloped circle with SNAIL. Adhere that piece to lower circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Adhere sentiment piece to front of card with Stampin’ Dimensionals taking care to straddle the twine (and not adhere on top of it).
Adhere Soft Suede piece to card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Affix Mini Glue Dots to a copper leaf trio trinket. Slip stem into one twine knot then press down to adhere Mini Glue Dots to twine or card front.
Place three Mint Macaron Faceted Dots onto upper left of card front.
One of my least favorite cards I have to make each year is a sympathy card. We all know what that means and how a good friend might be affected by this loss.
So when that time comes, I carefully go through my stamp set collection and other products to make a card filled with warm hugs and kind thoughts. The Rose Wonder stamp set is the set you need for life's major events—birthdays, weddings, sympathy. And for the everyday—thanks, friendship, encouragement.
The Rose Wonder card below is stunning and very easy to create because the embellishment comes from the Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit and the background layer was created using the Garden Trellis embossing folder. A full list of supplies and measurements are under the card - you can change the phrase to make it a feminine birthday card, a wedding card, a thank you card and more.

Inspired by the theme of my August Sunday Crafternoon class today I decided to create a card using an embossing folder. Unfortunately I need a sympathy card to mail to a friend but don't let my need stop you from creating a card like mine; the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set has stamps for many other occasions too!
Here's what I used to create my Flower Shop sympathy card - don't miss the list of supplies and video tutorial underneath my card photo:
Courage means so much to those who have it, and possibly even more to those who need it. The Ribbon of Hope bundle partners encouraging phrases with an adaptable awareness ribbon for truly courageous message.
This stamp set was inspired by Million Sales Achiever, Patty Bennett. How awesome that a million dollar achiever gets to design a stamp set for an upcoming catalog!

Who doesn't love to save money!? I sure do and today I have a great tip for you to consider before the next annual catalog goes live: find the bundles in the current catalog, check to see if they are carrying over and buy them now! Why? Because they will be sold separately in the next catalog and you will miss the bundle discount.
Today's video and card idea shows you a simple but beautiful sympathy card using the Flourishing Phrases bundle (now on SALE!). Click on either of these images to head to my online store:
There are times when you just want to send a card to someone special - not for a birthday or to say thank you - just because. Today I have a really fun Paper Craft Crew card challenge map that I used to create my card sample:
I used a brand new stamp set and coordinating framelits pack - available to order in January 2017! It's called: Lift Me Up! The set has 16 rubber stamps (6 phrases!) and there are 15 framelits in the pack.
Here's my card - I hope you love it as much as I do!

In the next few weeks I will be posting other cards showing you more new stamp sets and accessories in the upcoming Occasions catalog - come on back soon!
This time of year brings out so many emotions - most of them full of love and happiness. But there are also those feeling sadness too, especially if they lost someone special.
This past week has been difficult for many Stampin' Up! demonstrators as we lost three much-loved stamping friends. And so to honor them and their families, I have a special sympathy card to share with you:
Stamp Set - Heartfelt Sympathy (#138764)
Card Stock - Whisper White (#100730), Wild Wasabi (108641), White Vellum Cardstock (101856)
Designer Series Paper - English Garden (138440)
Ink Pad - Wild Wasabi for inside saying (126959), Whisper White Craft (101731)
There are sad times in our lives when we need to make a sympathy card. And this was one of those weeks for me.
This time, however, I needed to make a sympathy card for a male colleague and most of the sympathy stamp sets I have include floral designs. I decided to take a hard look at all of my stamp sets and come up with something different.
I chose three stamp sets for this card: By the Tide, The Open Sea and Awesomely Artistic:
One stamp from each of the sets above, along with the 'with sympathy' stamp from Teeny Tiny Wishes and here's what I created:
Colors used: Whisper White, Basic Black and Crumb Cake
Add some Linen Thread and the card is complete.
