How to add interest with the band stamping technique

Several Stampin' Up! demonstrators belong to a private group to share business tips, ideas and stamping techniques with each other - which is my favorite part! This week as I was cruising through the website I spotted the Band Stamping technique and thought I would try it as I was making a video tutorial - I figured we would learn it together! 

I chose to make a masculine card using the Beautiful World bundle - but you can choose what you have on hand and what kind of occasion you need.

The other items you will need to this technique are listed below but basically you should choose three colors of the same family (such as greens, blues, yellows, purples, etc) and your Stamping Sponges. I cut my sponges into small triangles and then try to keep each triangle in the same color family. If you have some washi tape and grid paper this will come in handy too! I also highly recommend Grid Paper so that you can follow the lines on the paper and keep everything nice and straight. I explain more in my video below.

Cards don't have to be complicated to be beautiful

Birthday cards don't have to be complicated to be beautiful and I can prove it!

Today I am sharing a card idea (and video tutorial below) that uses a few Big Shot products that are super easy to die-cut and will add a nice touch to the card front. Add these elements with a colorful designer series paper pattern and your card will look gorgeous!

When you craft, consider what you already own and see how to can combine different elements to make something new and unique to your style. That's what I did here. I started with the paper pattern that I loved, chose my phrase and then added the Stitched Shapes die-cut layers after seeing something similar on Pinterest (yes, demonstrators use Pinterest too, wink!).

To me, what makes this card unique is the color combinations and the stitched shape of the Crushed Curry layer. (I show you how to make this card below in a video tutorial)

How to create a stunning painted harvest

A behind the scenes technique: watercolor wash

I am on a business trip to Spain this week, with limited internet, and I didn't want to let you down on my Sundays with Sizzix tutorial. So I decided to try something a bit different. I borrowed a video from Stampin' Up! to teach you the watercolor wash technique and I made a card to match!
