Ink: VersaMark (102283); Pumpkin Pie (147086); Soft Suede (147115); Mango Melody (147093); Memento Tuxedo Black (132708)

Cardstock: Mango Melody (146989), Basic White (159276), Basic Black (121045)

Paper and cutting dimensions:

        Mango Melody: 8 ½” x 5 ½” Whisper White: 3” square, (2) 2” x 1 ¼”, scraps (leaves and acorns), 1 ¼” x ¾”

        Basic Black: 1 ¼” x 1 ½”; (2) ¼” x 5 ½”

Misc.: Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (144108); Matte Black Dots (154284); Sponge Daubers (133733); Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), black pen (optional)

Instructions:

1. Fold Mango Melody cardstock in half to create card base.

2. Adhere 2 Black strips onto card base. 

3. Ink wreath using Mango Melody ink and stamp onto Basic White. Daub Pumpkin Pie ink onto sections of the inked wreath, adding a second color. Die-cut. 

4. Using VersaMark, ink and stamp leaves up both sides of card front.

5. Ink leaves image using Soft Suede, stamp onto Basic White and die-cut.

6. Ink acorns using Soft Suede, stamp onto Basic White and die-cut.

7. Ink leaves using Mango Melody and Pumpkin Pie ink, stamp onto Basic White and die-cut. 

8. Ink spider using Jet Black ink. Stamp onto Basic White and die-cut.

9.  Die-cut Basic Black bow. 

 

10. Attach wreath to card front using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

11. Add Acorns and leaves to wreath using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

12. Attach bow using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

13. Add three leaves to card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue

14. Ink phrase using Memento Tuxedo Black and stamp onto Basic White scrap. Using paper snips, trim around phrase. Attach to card front, inside the wreath using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

15. Using a black pen, draw line from top of card down to wreath and spider.

16. Add 3 Matte Black Dots to complete card.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Place the long side of the Basic Black cardstock along the top of the paper trimmer and score at 2 5/8”, 5 ¼”, 7 7/8”. And 10 ½”.
2. Turn the BB cardstock so short end is at the top and score at 2”.
3. Place the other long side at the 3/8” mark on the other side of the paper trimmer track and mark the middle of each 2 5/8” section with a sharp pencil through the track. 
   
   
   
   
4. Place the ‘tree’ die in the center of the first panel with the top of the die at the pencil mark and run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. Repeat with other three panels.
5. Use the paper snips to cut from the bottom edge up to the 2” horizontal score line along the vertical score lines. Trim off the 1/4” section below the 2” score line and cut a slight angle on the rest of the 1/4” section. 
   
   
   
   
   
6. Use the frame to cut 4 panels from the cardstock vellum.
7. Stamp each of the single children on a vellum panel with Memento ink. Dry ink with low setting on Heat tool. If image is not solidly black, fill in areas with the Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blend. With the stamped side up, glue to inside of the black cardstock with liquid glue covering the openings. The unstamped side of the vellum will be to the outside of the box.
8. Cut 4 of the tree die combined with the frame from the Mango Melody cardstock. Use the paper snips to cut off the branches leaving just a narrow frame. Glue these to the right side of the box.
9. Now fold on the score lines and burnish with the bone folder. Apply liquid glue to the ¼” flap and close the sides of the box. Allow the glue to dry, then close the bottom.
10. Stamp greeting on scrap of Basic White cardstock and cut out with the label die. Punch a hole in one corner with the Take Your Pick and thread a length of Linen thread through the hole. Tie a knot in the thread and adhere the knot to a top corner of the box with a mini glue dot.
11. Use the Dark Pumpkin Pie blend to color about 6 inches of the White ¼” crinkled seam binding.
12. Tie an overhand knot in the seam binding and adhere to the corner over the Linen thread knot with another mini glue dot.

Instructions:

1. Using largest die from Tailor Made Tags Dies, cut tag from Basic White cardstock. Add a strip of the Glitter Washi Tape across the bottom of the tag and trim ends.

2. Stamp witch legs/shoes with Memento Tuxedo Black on bottom of tag. Use the Basic Black Blends to touch up the shoes along tag stitched areas that may have been left white. Color stockings and buckles with Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green Blends.

3. Stamp hat with Memento Tuxedo Black on scrap of Basic White. Color spots and hat band with Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green Blends and punch using Witch Hat Builder Punch.  Paint spots and hat band with Wink of Stella.

4. Place hat on tag (do not adhere) to determine where to stamp spider. Move hat and stamp spider with Memento Tuxedo Black.  Color spider eyes with Granny Apple Green Blends.  Attach hat with Dimensionals.

5. Punch bottom right corner of Highland Heather panel with star portion of punch (this area will not be seen). Slide panel into front of bag behind cutout stars.  Punch a hole through the panel and back layer of bag through the upper center star hole.

6. Glue punched stars onto tag and paint with Wink of Stella. Tie tag to bag through punched hole using the Basic Black Twine.

5 fun ways to use Glitter Washi Tape to create Halloween cards

Is Halloween one of your favorite holidays? Do you love the colors, costumes, and handing out candy to the trick and treaters?   

It is so exciting that Stampin’ Up! brought back washi tape. Glitter Washi Tape (yum!) is found on page 57 (159973) in the July-December Mini Catalog. It’s been a while since we have had this product and perhaps you need a bit of inspiration. Here are some different ways to create cards with this beautiful glittery washi tape. 

Card One – The Punch

Stamp set: Bewitching Bundle (159857)

Cardstock: Black & White Designs DSP (159861), Pumpkin Pie (105117), Basic Black (121045), Basic White (159276)

Ink: VersaMark (102283), Black Basic Embossing powder (155554)

Accessories:  Small wobbles, Pumpkin Pie Marker, Layered Circle die cuts (151770), Stampin’ cut & Emboss machines Mini – (150673) Large – (149653), Glitter Washi Tape (159973), Adhesive of your choice, Silicone Craft Pad (127853)

• Take a small piece of 3x3 thick basic white card stock.

• Add the glitter washi tape to the cardstock at an angle. Use your Silicone Craft Sheet to help me out

• Once you finish taping the cardstock, cut off all the overhang of washi tape.

• Put the cover basic white into the Witch Hat Builder Punch. (159856). Punch out the witch’s hat.

• Assemble the card as shown below

 

 

Yes, the witch’s hat moves.  Remember to decorate the inside of the card and your envelope.

Card Two – Die Cuts

Stamp set: Scary Cute Bundle (159852)

Cardstock: Old Olive (100702), Basic White (159276), Basic Black (121045)

Ink: Memento (132708), Old Olive (147090)

• Do all the same steps as above but put the washi tape on the basic white card stock in a straight line.

• Create straight lines as a background for the designer series paper. (You can also use washi in diagonal lines).  Cut off the overhang.

How to make super sweet Harvest Hello boxes

*The black ink pad and marker are optional - use if you are adding the jack-o-lantern face. 

 

Measurements:  

• Pretty Peacock CS: 3” x 3” scored ¾” from all four sides; ½” x 6-3/4” 
• scraps of DSP and Pretty Peacock, Cajun Craze, and Mint Macaron CS for punching

 

Instructions:

1. Burnish all score lines using a Bone Folder.
2. Cut one score line at each corner of the 3” x 3” CS.
3. Fold up the sides and glue each tab onto the inside of the adjacent side, to form the box.
4. Run a Bone Folder along the ½” strip of CS to soften it, then glue the ends onto the inside of the box sides.
5. Stamp the pumpkin twice in Pretty Peacock ink onto a piece of the DSP. If desired, stamp the face in Memento black ink, and fill in the face using a Black marker.
6. Stamp the stem twice in Pretty Peacock ink onto a scrap of Cajun Craze CS.
7. Stamp the leaf twice in Pretty Peacock ink onto a scrap of Mint Macaron CS.
8. Punch out all the stamped pieces.
9. Punch two pumpkins from a scrap of Pretty Peacock CS.
10. Glue the stem and leaf onto the back of each DSP pumpkin.
11. Glue the Pretty Peacock CS pumpkin onto the back of the DSP pumpkins.
12. Glue the pumpkins onto the sides of the box.

How to send no tricks just treats this Halloween!

It's time for another card map challenge and another Halloween card this week. I love the card I created not only because it used up my left-over Halloween paper (yay me!) but also because it is a fun way to send no tricks only treats to someone special who lives overseas!

How to make a cute and easy Halloween treat box

Halloween is coming soon and I bet there are some special children in your neighborhood and you might like to give them something special when they come by your door.

How to feature your designer paper on cards

Today's Paper Craft Crew card map challenge was a fun one for me. I decided right off that I wanted to make a Halloween card. 

 

But I have shared before that I don't have any Halloween themed stamp sets. I do have the Everything Festive set so chose that for the card map phrase layer.

This set is great for many fall occasions - it even has a phrase for Valentine's Day which makes it so versatile. 

I decided that the rectangle layer would have to be designer paper because that would be a good match for the phrase and as I said, I don't have any sets with Halloween type images. Have you seen the fun Monster Bash designer paper pack? So cute!

I chose to add a layer of Basic Black under the designer paper rectangle so the layer would be just as eye-catching as the phrase. 

And then one final touch: I created a x-stitch border using Pumpkin Pie card stock and my Stitched Shapes dies - that little strip adds a bit of coordinating interest to that layer. 

I am not sure you noticed it in the photo above but I stamped a splatter image from the Beauty Abounds stamp set all over the Crushed Curry card base, using Versamark ink. This particular stamp adds a bit of visual texture which adds visual interest to the base.

I recommend you purchase at least one stamp set that has splatter stamps or some kind of subtle background images. Use them when you are not sure you like a plain card base and either stamp these images using Versamark for a subtle look or go bold and use the same ink color as your card base. Try both and see which you prefer.

Measurements:  

• Basic Black Card Stock: 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, 3/4” x 8 1/2”, larger scrap
• Whisper White Card Stock: 5” x 3 3/4”, medium size scrap (2)
• DSP:  2- 5 1/8” x 1 7/8” 

Instructions:

1. Score both pieces of Basic Black card stock along 8 ½” side at 2 1/8” and 6 7/8”
2. Attach DSP to both sides of card front with Multipurpose Liquid Glue
3. Using one piece of Whisper White scrap paper and piece of Basic Black scrap paper, cut out Stitched Nested Label Dies using the 3^rd largest die for the white card stock and 2^nd largest die for the black card stock.
4. Stamp the raven image on the other piece of whisper white card stock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Cut out the image using Paper Snips.
5. On the white die cut, stamp “It’s Halloween” in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; stamp the branch in Early Espresso.
6. Fold the belly band along the score lines and attach the black die cut to the belly band using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (black card stock 8 ½ x ¾)
7. Attach white die cut to black die cut using Multipurpose Liquid Glue
8. Attach the raven to the white die cut, perching on the branch, using dimensionals.
9. Add Monster Bash Enamel Elements as shown

How to add a creative twist to a Halloween card

Monster Bash Halloween card

Here's how to make this fun card - under the instructions I have a photo of what this card looks like inside!

Supplies: 

• Stamp Sets – Boo To You (150550)
• Card Stock – Smoky Slate (131202); Basic Black (121045); Whisper White (100730)
• Stamp Pads – Memento Tuxedo Black (132708)
• Misc. – Monster Mash Designer Series Paper (DSP)  (150447); Stitched Rectangle Dies (148551); Ornate Frames Dies (150664); Googly Eyes (150453); Basic Black Scalloped Edge Ribbon (150449); Dimensionals (104430)

Measurements:  

• Smoky Slate CS: 8 1/4” x 41/4”, scored at 5 1/2”; 3” x 7 ½”, scored at 3 ½”; scrap for die cut
• Basic Black CS: 2 ¾” x 3 ¼”;  2 5/8” x 4 1/8”
• Whisper White: 2 5/8” x 4” 
• DSP:  2 1/2” x 4 1/8”;  small piece of DSP with figures 

Instructions:

1. Orienting your large piece of smoky slatecardstock, fold the scored piece with the smaller piece going up
2. Attach the DSP piece to the black cardstock that fits on that front lower flap; attach to flap
3. Attach the smaller smoky slate piece inside the flap on the 5 ½” x 4 ¼” back piece so that the bottom touches at the fold and the smaller part folds over the front flap.
4. Attach the black 3 ¼” piece of cardstock to the front of that overhanging flap.
5. Diecut the ornate frame in smoky slate.
6. Fussy cut out a skeleton (or figure of your choice) out of the DSP and attach to the ornate frame with dimensionals.  Attach googly eyes. Attach to card front.
7. Using your favorite adhesive, attach the ribbon to the card.
8. Using the whisper white piece diecut using a stitched rectangle.  Stamp the sentiment  on that piece.  Attach to inside of card.

Why not build on last week's challenge?

Last week I shared the card map challenge below and what I created as a result:

I gave myself a challenge to use up some of my Holiday Catalog paper! You can download the using the link on the right side of my blog or by clicking on the image below!

But. There were technical difficulties last week - normally I share a link so you can see what other designer crew members but for some reason the link failed so the crew decided to rerun this challenge again so you can see other ideas too. 

There are so many new packs of designer paper in this catalog and so I doubled down on my challenge to use some Monster Bash paper (page 54, #150447):

I think the patterns in this paper pack are delightful and will appeal to everyone (not easily said)! 

I decided to use two different patterns: one for a background layer and one for the card layer image. How fun is that!

 

I created the phrase using my Itty Bitty Greeting stamp set. I stamped the long 'trick or treat' phrase onto Pumpkin Pie card stock and then cut the strip into three pieces to use on th e front of my card. 

I also decided not to ask any further embellishments because I felt they would get lost on the front of this card.
