Cardstock: Mango Melody (146989), Basic White (159276), Basic Black (121045)

Paper and cutting dimensions:

        Mango Melody: 8 ½” x 5 ½” Whisper White: 3” square, (2) 2” x 1 ¼”, scraps (leaves and acorns), 1 ¼” x ¾”

        Basic Black: 1 ¼” x 1 ½”; (2) ¼” x 5 ½”

Instructions:

1. Fold Mango Melody cardstock in half to create card base.

2. Adhere 2 Black strips onto card base. 

3. Ink wreath using Mango Melody ink and stamp onto Basic White. Daub Pumpkin Pie ink onto sections of the inked wreath, adding a second color. Die-cut. 

4. Using VersaMark, ink and stamp leaves up both sides of card front.

5. Ink leaves image using Soft Suede, stamp onto Basic White and die-cut.

6. Ink acorns using Soft Suede, stamp onto Basic White and die-cut.

7. Ink leaves using Mango Melody and Pumpkin Pie ink, stamp onto Basic White and die-cut. 

8. Ink spider using Jet Black ink. Stamp onto Basic White and die-cut.

9.  Die-cut Basic Black bow. 

 

10. Attach wreath to card front using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

11. Add Acorns and leaves to wreath using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

12. Attach bow using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

13. Add three leaves to card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue

14. Ink phrase using Memento Tuxedo Black and stamp onto Basic White scrap. Using paper snips, trim around phrase. Attach to card front, inside the wreath using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

15. Using a black pen, draw line from top of card down to wreath and spider.

16. Add 3 Matte Black Dots to complete card.

How to create a funky Halloween card

I took a bit of a departure from this week's Paper Craft Crew card map challenge:

And gave myself a challenge to use up some of my Holiday Catalog paper! And today is the day that the Holiday Catalog goes live and you can download it using the link on the right side of my blog or by clicking on the image below!

There are so many new packs of designer paper in this catalog and so I doubled down on my challenge to use some Monster Bash paper (page 54, #150447):

I think the patterns in this paper pack are delightful and will appeal to everyone (not easily said)! 

I decided to use two different patterns: one for a background layer and one for the card layer image. How fun is that!

 

I created the phrase using my Itty Bitty Greeting stamp set. I stamped the long 'trick or treat' phrase onto Pumpkin Pie card stock and then cut the strip into three pieces to use on th e front of my card. 

I also decided not to ask any further embellishments because I felt they would get lost on the front of this card.

How to have a spooktacular bash this Halloween

Yes I know it is not September yet but I couldn't resist sharing this super cute Halloween card idea with you today. I beg forgiveness! It's just that the Monster Bash product suite is so darn cute! And the coordinating dies are gorgeous and can be used for so many other products ideas beyond Halloween.

You are going to be seeing so many ideas using the Monster Bash bundle on Pinterest and Facebook so let's just jump in head first and have a blast over the next few months.

Instructions:

1. Stamp the Vampire from the Stamp Set on 2 ½ x 2 ½ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock in Tuxedo Black ink.  Die cut with matching die from the Ornate Frames Dies.  Color in the Vampire’s face and hands with the Soft Seafoam Stampin’ Blend Light marker.  Color the outside of the frame with the Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blend.  Color the background behind the vampire with your Terracotta Tile Stampin’ Write Marker.  And the inner Frame with your Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write marker.  
2. Stamp the Sentiment on the 2 ¼ x 1 ½” piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock in Terracotta Tile Ink and die cut with matching die from the Ornate Frames Dies.  
3. Die cut a Circle using the Layering Circle Dies using the 2 ¾ x 2 ¾ piece of Terracotta Tile Cardstock.  Use the 5^th one from the smallest circle die.  With the Basic Black Cardstock (2 ¾ x 2 ¾) die cut a scalloped circle.  Use the scallop circle die that fits the circle you just cut out.  This should be the next to the largest scalloped die.  There will be just enough room for the vampire you just did to fit with just a little border.  Layer this together with your favorite adhesive.  Attach the Vampire ornate frame that we colored with a couple black dimensionals.   
4. Fold and burnish your Basic Black card base.  Attach the 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 piece of Terracotta Tile Cardstock using your favorite adhesive.  Attach the 5 ¼ x 4 piece of DSP to the front of this to make your card front; leaving just a small border around the DSP.  
5. Attach 4” of the Basic Black scalloped Edge Ribbon to the card front with Tear & Tape Adhesive about 1 ½” from the bottom.  
6. With the ½” x 4” piece of DSP cut a diagonal edge to one end.  Attach slightly over the top of the ribbon using your favorite adhesive.  
7. Place the sentiment to the right of the card front using a little multipurpose liquid glue at the bottom and two black dimensionals at the top.  The ribbon will lift the bottom of the sentiment piece up.  
8. Add the Vampire Circle element you created earlier to the left of the sentiment slightly behind the sentiment like in the photo above.  
9. Add one of the Monster Bash Enamel Shapes to the sentiment.  Use a mini black dimensional behind this to make it the same height as the sentiment.  Placing it slightly on top of the sentiment where there is a slight overhang as you see above. 
10. Add the 1” x 4” piece of DSP to the 4 x 5 ¼ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using your favorite adhesive to the bottom 3^rd.  Add this to the inside of your card to finish it off.  

 

How to create a Halloween card with no Halloween stamps

Would you like to create a Halloween card this year but don't have any Halloween stamp sets? No worries - help is on the way! I am going to show you how to combine your stamp sets to create a Halloween theme card idea. (I was inspired by a card design by another Stampin' Up! demonstrator - I liked his idea but wanted to add my own details and technique to the design) 

The way to begin is to think colors - what colors do you feel are Halloween related? Start with these colors in mind and then have a look at your designer paper - do you spot a pattern that uses your color ideas and might have a design that could work for Halloween? Don't be confined to one pack either. I look through my catalog for the colors I have in mind and discover ways to combine paper packs! 

Next, have a look at your stamp set collection for phrases that might work for a Halloween theme. I remembered that I had the Itty Bitty Greetings set, and it had the perfect phrase for my card. Things are taking shape!

Instructions:

1. Cut Spooky DSP piece/s at 3” between every tree piece (you will end up with 16 pieces per DSP sheet)
2. Using Grey ink, stamp owl so feet are resting on tree branch.
3. Using Black ink, stamp “happy owloween” onto owl.
4. Using Pumpkin Pie marker, color in beak and feet. Using black marker, color in white around eyes. Attach small black rhinestone into center of each eye. Set aside.
5. Using Treat Bag Thinlits, cut out bag and put together using Tear & Tape Adhesive.
6. Put one Stampin Dimensional on each corner on the back of stamped DSP square and adhere to bag front.
7. Thread piece of Burlap Ribbon around bag,  through owl piece and tie linen thread into a bow around ends of burlap. Trim off as desired.
8. Attach three black rhinestones to bottom of bag.
9. Cut 8-10 1/8” strips of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock. Roll around end of a pencil to create a curled piece.
10. Put SNAIL on one end of curled pieces and attach to inside of bag. You might need to re-curl strips once strips are positioned.

Here's how to make this fun card:

Halloween Scares Moon & Mountain

Supplies: 

• Stamp Sets – Halloween Scares (142226 wood, 142229 clear)
• Card Stock – Pumpkin Pie (105117), Whisper White (100730), Basic Black (121045), Crushed Curry (131199)
• Stamp Pads – Basic Black (140931
• Misc. – Regals Stampin’ Write Markers (131262), Big Shot (143263), Magnetic Platform (130658), Layering Circles Framelits (141705), Dimensionals (104430)
  
   Measurements:  

• Pumpkin Pie (base) 5-1/2” x 8 1/2” 
• Basic Black (torn layers) 5” x 4” 

Instructions:

1. Stamp the house image on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink.  Cut out the house using scissors. You can omit the chimney, like I did, to make it easier to cut out.  Color in the windows using the Crushed Curry marker.
2. Die cut a circle from Crushed Curry cardstock using the Layering Circles Framelits. I used the circle equivalent to 2 5/8” wide.  Stamp the largest collage of bat images on the circle using Basic Black ink. 
3. Using the 5” x 4” piece of Basic Black cardstock, begin to tear the paper, towards you, to create strips. Don’t worry about being precise as the unevenness of the tears and depth add to the character of your finished ‘mountain’. Tear the first strip straight across so that it will be 4” wide when finished.  Tear the next strip wider, ripping it shorter than the first layer.  Repeat this process until you have a small piece resembling a rock/cliff for the top as shown. 
4. Place, do not adhere, the first long strip of Basic Black cardstock on the Pumpkin Pie card base. This will give you an idea of where to stamp the tree.  If necessary, use a pencil and make a small mark for placement.  Stamp the tree image onto the Pumpkin Pie card base using Basic Black ink.
5. Adhere the first long strip of Basic Black cardstock to the bottom of the card base, leaving the top, backside free of adhesive so you can layer the next strip behind this one.  Continue layering the Basic Black strips in the same manner creating layers of to resemble a hill.  Remember to leave room for the Crushed Curry circle (moon).  When you reach the top, adhere the house image using Dimensionals, again, leaving room to adhere the moon.  Adhere the rock/cliff piece of Basic Black cardstock as shown.   
6. Adhere the Crushed Curry circle, tucking it slightly behind the house as shown.

Halloween Scares Tag card

Supplies: 

• Stamp Sets –  Halloween Scares (142226 – Wood Mount; 142229 – Clear Mount); Spooky Fun (142236)
• Cardstock – Whisper White (100730); Pumpkin Pie (105117)
• Stamp Pads – Black Ombre Stampin’ Pad (141850); Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Pad (140931), Perfect Plum (126963), Old Olive (126953)
• Misc. – Scalloped Tag Topper (133324), Halloween Night Designer Washi Tape (142026), Halloween Night Baker’s Twine (142027), Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker (100082), Bunch of Banners Framelits (141488), Stampin’ Trimmer (126889); Big Shot (143263), Paper Snips (103579), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755) 

Measurements:  

• Pumpkin Pie Cardstock – 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”
• Whisper White Cardstock – 2” x 4-1/8”
• Whisper White Cardstock – scrap piece for word bubble
• Pumpkin Pie Cardstock – 2-1/2” x ¾”scrap piece for words
• Halloween Night Baker’s Twine – 8” 

Instructions:

1. Score the Pumpkin Pie card base at 4 ¼” and fold in half.
2. Draw lines around the front of the card front using the Ink up the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker, leaving a ¼” blank area from each side.  NOTE:  You do not need to draw perfectly straight lines. 
3. Using all 5 spools of Halloween Night Designer Washi Tape, add random lengths to the card base front.
4. Punch the 2” Whisper White cardstock piece using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.
5. Ink up the spooky house image from the Halloween Scares stamp set using the Black Ombre Stampin’ Pad and stamp onto the 2” Scalloped Tag. Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and set in place on the Pumpkin Pie cardbase front.
6. Ink up the Word Bubble image from the Halloween Scares stamp set using Perfect Plum ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White scrap cardstock.
7. Stamp the “eek” from the Spooky Fun stamp set onto the stamped word bubble using Old Olive ink.  Hand cut the word bubble using Paper Snips.  Add the word bubble with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the 2” tag.
8. Stamp the sentiment “happy Halloween” from the Spooky Fun stamp set with Archival Basic Black ink onto the strip piece of Pumpkin Pie.  Die cut using the Bunch of Banners Framelits Die and the Big Shot.  Snip off the right portion of the banners and set in place with a piece of Halloween Night Designer Washi Tape.
9. Tie a bow using both colors of the Halloween Night Baker’s Twine, trim to desired length and add to the Whisper White tag using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
10. Ink the smaller set of 3 bats from the Halloween Scares stamp set using Archival Basic Black ink and stamp onto the Pumpkin Pie card front.

Measurements in descending order of card stock size

• Card base 4-1/4” x 11” OR 5-1/2” x 8-1/2” then score in half
• Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper: 4” x 5-1/4”
• Basic Black for wider horizontal band: 2” x 4”
• Tangelo Twist for narrower horizontal band you will emboss: 1-3/4” x 4”
• Very Vanilla strip for sentiment: finished size 1” x 3-1/4” so stamp on a scrap just a little larger and trim so sentiment is straight
