Measurements:

• Basic White: 4 1/4” x 11”; 4” x 5 1/4”; Scrap 3” x 3”
• Granny Apple Green: 4” x 4”
• Glorious Gingham DSP: 5 1/2” x 4 1/4”

Instructions:

1. Score the Basic White card base at 5 1/2” and adhere the Glorious Gingham panel (Blueberry Bushel) to the card front and set aside.
2. Die cut the Basic White panel with the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes.
3. Die Cut the tulip stem die three times on the Granny Apple Green piece. On the 3” x 3” scrap of Basic White, color with the Real Red Stampin’ Blends and die cut the tulips three times.
4. Adhere the tulip buds to the tulip stems with the Liquid Glue; add a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional behind the middle tulip on each one.
5. Arrange the tulips so they will fit inside the circle and add Tombow Liquid Glue to the base of the stem.
6. Adhere the Basic White panel to the card front and arrange the tulips as shown.
7. Stamp the sentiment in the lower left with Blueberry Bushel ink.

Here's a fun take on a playful, fruity challenge

I have to admit that this week's Paper Craft Crew challenge completely stumped me. 

I have no stamp sets with fruit. None. Yes, there are lots in the Annual Catalog but I don't own any of them. So after a frustrating think or two I told myself - well just don't participate and let it go. 

But that's not me. At all. 

So I dug around in my retired sets and....nope. But I did spot the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and decided that I would give it a try - dust it off and use it one last time.

And then it got fun. I started looking at ink pad colors and noticed right away that some of our color names would be perfect for today's challenge:

You are going to love this layered look

Hello fellow crafters! Last week I introduced the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks and showed you an easy way to create a card using one of them. Today I want to show you how to layer masks to create an interesting background layer on your cards. 

 

Let's have a quick look at the masks in case you didn't see last week's blog post.

 

 

 

The set includes stencils with stripe and tile patterns that you can use separately OR you can place them together to create advanced designs, such as checkered, Moroccan, and more. You can also create textured backgrounds with these and our Embossing Paste. The masks are versatile enough for crafting all year long and for many occasions and you can pair with your favorite stamp sets for even more versatility.

Stamp a happy garden or bouquet of daisies with this fun set: you'll love everything you can do with it. Do you like bold and simple stamping? Measurements: 

• Basic White Thick Cardstock – 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼” and scraps for sentiment and cow.
• Bubble Bath – 1 ¼” X 4”
• Delightfully Eclectic DSP – 3 ¾” x 5” and 2” x 3 ½” (same design using both sides)

Instructions:

1. Attach DSP to card base with Stampin‘ Seal Adhesive.
2. Emboss Bubble Bath cardstock using the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder & the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Attach to card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
3. Attach 2” x 3 ½” piece of DSP, using the other side, to card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
4. Stamp cow using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Cut it out using the Little Dreamers Dies and color using the Gray Granite and Bubble Bath Stampin’ Blends.
5. Punch circle from Vellum using the 2 3/8” Circle Punch. Attach cow to Vellum circle using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally, attach Vellum circle to card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
6. Stamp sentiment using Bubble Bath ink and the Little Dreamers stamp set then fussy cut it out using Paper Snips. Attach to card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

How to use up all those beautiful paper strips

Stamping images is my favorite way to create a lovely design for a card front. But it’s not the only way to create a card that I’d be proud to send to any of my friends or family. Using Designer Series Paper to is a great way to decorate a card with very little muss and fuss. That’s why I’m definitely taking advantage of this month’s Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper Sale.

6” x 6” Designer Series Papers Are Great for Cards

You’ll notice that four of the Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Papers on sale are 6” x 6.” I personally love that size of paper as it’s much easier to have lots of different prints out on my work table while I’m designing cards. But I also find it much easier to cut a piece of paper that fits on a card front from the smaller sheets of paper.

But What Do You Do With the Scraps?

One downside of that 6” square, though, is that I’m frequently cutting pieces of paper that result in leftover thin scraps. For example, when I cut 3-3/4” x 5” pieces of those 6” square papers  there’s a 1” strip that’s left over on one side. Not wanting to waste a pile of 1” strips when I finished my last project, I started laying them out to see what I could do with them. Here are three cards that I made with 1” strips of the new Inked Botanicals Designer Series Paper.

 

 

 

Each of these cards uses the same Stampin’ Up! products:

• One card base, Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock, 5-1/2” wide by 8-1/2 high, folded at the top.
• One piece of Lost Lagoon Cardstock, 5-1/4” wide by 4” high
• Five strips of Inked Botanicals Designer Series Paper, each 3-3/4” by 1”
• One strip of Very Vanilla Cardstock, 3-3/4” x 1” (optionally trimmed to fit sentiment)
• One piece of Lost Lagoon 1/4" Bordered Ribbon, 20” long
• Sentiment from the Go To Greetings Stamp Set.

And remember – you can use any papers and colors you have in your stash!

Laying Out the Design

When I created the two cards with the woven strips, I laid the strips out first without gluing. First I made some light pencil marks to help guide me when I adhered the strips to the cardstock. Then I figured out which pieces could be glued to the cardstock first. After I finished weaving strips, I completed any gluing that was necessary.

As you can imagine, there are many ways to use those 1” strips of paper! You can have lots of fun making your own designs to use as much of each sheet of paper as possible!

And One More Idea for Those Even Smaller Scraps

Have you ever heard about “inchies”? An inchie is just what it sounds like – a piece of paper that’s 1” square. These were really popular several years back, especially when there were 1” designs on designer series papers or stamp sets. What made me think of them were all those smaller pieces of Designer Series Paper that I was about to sweep into my waste basket. Many of those were an “inchie,” at least when it came to their size.

 

Why not use them to make yet another card front? Simply cut a 4” x 5” piece of cardstock and laid out  20 different 1” square prints from the Inked Botanicals papers. Trim the 4” side to 3-3/4” and mounted it onto a 4” x 5-1/4” piece of Calypso Coral Cardstock to give the design a bit of color pop and then attached it to a 4-1/4” x 5-1/2” card base of Lost Lagoon Cardstock.

This is about as basic an inchie project as you can get. But with a bit of ribbon and coordinating cardstock, it is definitely a card I’ll happily send out to a friend.

So stop looking at all those scraps on your work table as something for the waste basket. They can be something for a really nice looking card!

Which 3 colors will you choose for this challenge?

It's time for another Paper Craft Crew challenge - this week it's a color challenge!

 

I will happily admit that color challenges are not really my thing as I feel they require LOTS of thinking and planning. But for some reason, this week things fell into place pretty quickly - once I got out of my own way. 

I decided to create a card base that uses strips of left over card stock and I chose three that I normally would not use: Gray Granite, Pebbled Path and Night of Navy. After this week's card I will admit that Pebbled Path is growing on me pretty quickly too.

Once I had my paper strips in place I then needed to choose an image and phrase. I decided to use the Dainty Delight stamp set:

This product used to be bundled with matching dies - you can still order them, but separately now. I LOVE this set and die pack - perfect for summer, feminine and other themed card ideas. Click on the set image above to order it at my USA online store.

Little flowers send a big message when you use this Dainty Delight set. Sure, they're dainty, but they’ll send a powerful message of hope, thanks, celebration, and more on all your paper crafting projects. The line art images can be custom colored using your favorite Stampin’ Up! coloring technique - I used Stampin' Blends. Stamp a single stem for a clean, minimalist look (which is what I did), or mix and match the images for a lovely field of dainty delights—no matter how you style them, you can’t go wrong with these delicate beauties!

Paper with cutting dimensions:         
        Crumb Cake 5 ½ X 8 ½ sc 4 ¼
        Basic White 2@ 4 X 5 ¼; 3 X 4 ¼
        Starry Sky (159263) 2 ½ X 4
        Early Espresso (119686) ¼ X 2

Non-Stampin’ Up’ Sticky note

Instructions:

1. Fold and burnish card base and set aside.
2. Run one of the Basic White 4 X 5 ¼ through the Embossing machine using the Painted Textures folder. Set it aside.
3. Take a sticky note and tear the top lightly giving it some movement. See card for an idea.
4. Attach the sticky note about 2” from top. Using a Blending Brush and crumb Cake ink start to blend the cardstock to give the look of sand.
5. Remove the sticky note and apply it over the sand leaving a small gap between colors. This is to give the look of “foam”. Start Blending with the Balmy Blue to the color consistency you’d like.  Then take the Night of Navy ink and color along the top and slightly down.  This should give the look of darker water further from the beach.
6. Take the small turtle and place him on your block upside down so the flat surface will be inked. Using your Mossy Meadow ink-ink stamp and stamp off once and then onto the sand part of your card closer to the water.  Repeat this process and stamp the second one towards the bottom.
7. Clean your stamp and turn it over so the rough side will be inked. Place the stamp into the Night of Navy and stamp both turtles inking in between.
8. Using your Chalk Marker slightly draw a line under each fin and around the feet.
9. Using the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend make a dragging look below each fin and feet.
10. Use the Stampin’ Blend and place random dots throughout the sand to give it a sandy look.
11. Stamp your sentiment In Night Of Navy by stamping off one to two times.
12. Attach the piece of Starry Sky to the embossed piece of Basic White using your adhesive.
13. Add dimensionals to the piece with turtles and apply to card front slightly to the right of center.
14. Add the strip of Early Espresso to the top left using your adhesive.
15. Add your embellishments as desired.
16. Attach the second piece of Basic White to the inside of the card for your written message.

Instructions:

1. Adhere the pieces of Designer Paper to the 4” x 5 ¼” Basic White cardstock.
2. Stamp the greeting and the images on to the 1 ¼” x 2” Real Red cardstock using Memento black ink. Adhere this piece to the Basic White cardstock.
3. Lay a piece of ribbon on top of the layer and tape the ends of the ribbon to the back. Add a smaller piece of ribbon around the first ribbon and tie in a knot.
4. Stamp the 3 animals on Basic White cardstock using Memento black ink.
5. Color each with Stampin’ Blends.
6. Add the animals to the card using Dimensionals.
7. Use the fine-tip glue pen to create a raised gloss on the balloons, flowers, basket, and shaker. Let dry before touching.
   (My glue pen created bubbles, but instead of popping them, I left them that way since I liked the look)

This week's card sketch challenge is a challenge indeed

Ohh this week's Paper Craft Crew card sketch challenge is a challenge indeed:

Although at first I gulped and thought "oh oh", I quickly decided to go a bit rogue with my card front layers. 

For my phrase I chose the fun Happy Hedgehogs stamp set which I stamped and then die-cut using one of my Something Fany dies. I am so happy I bought these dies as they fit so many phrases!

 

I created my card front layer and then cut it into 3 triangles. When I laid the triangles on my card base, it looked so plain so I thought: why not emboss these instead? So I did, using the Basic 3D Embossing folders - did you know that this is one of our many online exclusive products? Click the image below to see what else is exclusive! 

Once I embossed and adhered my layers to the card front, I decided the card was still too plain so then I added two narrow strips of leftover Boho Blue card stock. Just saying: if you try this idea at home, adhere the strips before adding the triangles to the card front - it will be much easier!

Try this paper piecing card technique - it's easy and fun

Hello fellow crafters! As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I earned the Dots & Spots dies for free (there so many perks being a Stampin' Up! demo!) and when it arrived I really didn't have many ideas for using it. This week I spent a fun afternoon playing with this die and realized that there are so many fun ways to craft using it. Today's video features a fun and easy technique to help you use up those paper scraps that I know you have laying around - would you like to see it?

 

 

Polka dots are simply the perfect accessory. Easily add texture and pattern to any card or scrapbooking craft with a quick pass through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. Use the full sheet or just a portion of the die to add depth and dimension to a variety of projects. A sprinkle of spots may be just what you’re looking for!

 

I have shared a lot of projects using the Countryside Inn designer series paper:

 

 

and this means that I have a lot of leftover scraps lying around. I am going to use these 2 scraps and a coordinating solid scrap of Night of Navy for this technique. 

 

For the accent on my card I used the beautiful Meadow Dies (a huge sigh of relief that these did NOT retire!):

How to make your paper crafting projects unique

One of the most playful bundles in the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog is the Hey, Chuck Bundle.

This card inspiration came to mind when I saw that rooster looking backwards and the skateboard. I just HAD to put the two together. Then I remembered the Oopsy-Daisy stamp from the Cheerful Daisy set. I used the large daisy center for the rock. I hope you giggle as much as I did while you make this get-well card for someone who has had an accident.

        Basic White Cardstock [CS] (159276) 11” x 4 ¼” scored at 5 ½” for card base, 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”, scraps for greeting, skateboard, and rooster

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Fold card base at score line and apply the Pecan Pie CS with Stampin’ Seal.
2. Use the blending brushes to apply Balmy Blue, Garden Green, and Pebbled Path ink to the 5 1/8” x 3 7/8” piece of Basic White CS. Adhere to card front.
3. Stamp the rooster and skateboard on scrap of Basic White CS with Gray Granite ink. Then color with the Stampin’ Blends and cut out with the corresponding dies.
4. Stamp the greeting on Basic White CS scrap with Pecan Pie ink and cut out with the label die from the Cheerful Daisies dies.
5. Stamp the fence twice on Pecan Pie CS with Pecan Pie ink and cut out.
6. Stamp the large daisy center on Basic Gray CS with the Pebbled Path ink and die-cut out.
7. Apply the fence pieces and the skateboard to card front with liquid glue.
8. Apply the rooster, stone, and greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
9. Hand write or stamp a message on the inside. Remember to sign the back. You are an artist and artists sign their work!
