This week is such an exciting time in the Stampin' Up! world! On 2 May (two more sleeps!) the next Annual Catalog goes live and, alongside of this launch a new set of 5 In Colors are revealed. Today I am going unveil these new colors and show you a fun card that can be easily multiplied.

The In Color 12" x 12" Cardstock Assortment is great for handmade cards and other paper crafts. It’s high quality, acid free, and lignin free, making it a favorite scrapbook paper, too. Here's my tip: when new IN Colors are introduced I always buy an assorted pack of 12x12 cardstock. I can then use my Paper Trimmer to create card bases, strips or keep a sheet whole for memory pages. It's like a color sampler that goes a long way.

Instructions:

1. Choose the letter for the monogram ~ yours or a friend’s.  A set of note cards makes a great gift!
2. Stamp the letter using Versamark, add Silver Embossing Powder & emboss on a scrap of thick basic white cardstock.
3. Cut the letter out with the six-sided die.
4. Adhere the DSP to the notecard using the Multipurpose Glue.
5. Tie the ribbon around the front of the card and tie in a knot.
6. Add the monogram letter using Dimensionals.

Note:  This DSP comes in three colors ~ gold, silver, and copper ~ and, so does our Metallics Embossing Powders!  Make one in every color!

I am happy to see tags 0n the challenge because I don't use my Tailor Made Tags dies often enough and I am delighted that they are NOT retiring.

My first try at this sketch was too plain looking for my design taste so I decided to use the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder on the card base and strip - love how it looks!

I’m sure by now that you’ve heard or read about Stampin’ Up!’s new product offerings called, “Online Exclusives.” Stampin’ Up! has initiated this program so that it can respond more quickly to relevant trends in the crafting world. Because it’s a totally new offering by Stampin’ Up!, I’d like to take this opportunity to explain what it is and how it works.

 

Online Exclusives in a Nutshell

 

What They Are. Online Exclusives are products that Stampin’ Up! will offer ONLY online. You won’t see any of these products in their print catalogs. You may already know that the Kit Collection are online only. But now there will be a complete line of Stampin’ Up! products online only – stamp sets, papers, embellishments and more.

 

 

Where You Can Find Them Online. When you shop Stampin’ Up!’s online store, you’ll find a drop-down list of “departments” in that store. Look down the list and you’ll see Online Exclusives. You may notice that there’s no breakout of types of products for that category. That’s because all current Stampin’ Up! products that are available online only, kits included, are in this category. Click on that link and shop!

 

 

How You Will Know What’s Available. Online Exclusive products will not have a set end date, and some will only be available “while supplies last.” If you see a product listed in the store, it’s available for purchase, if not immediately, then in the future. If a product sells out and it’s not a “while supplies last” product, it will still be listed. But that product will have the words, “Currently Unavailable,” in red under the product description. If a “while supplies last” product sells out, it will not be listed.

When New Online Exclusive Products Will Be Released? New Online Exclusive products will be released at the beginning of the months of March, July and November. Add a little vintage and some pretty texture with this special paper

I am quite excited about this week's card sketch challenge because there is a specialty paper that immediately came to mind. 

 

I have had a pack of the Vellum Layering Designs for a while and really need to use it before it retires. 

Add a little vintage and some pretty texture with this Vellum paper pack. Cut down vellum to create backgrounds on cards. Or create unique elements and layers using punches or dies. Vellum imagery includes newsprint, handwritten letters, and a map. Translucent vellum lets the cardstock color to show through for gentle texture on paper projects.

I decided to pair up a vellum design with the Hello, Irresistible paper pack for a fun, but subtle look.

Learn how to make this sweet treat box that is perfect for any occasion

Today's project is super fun to make and is perfect for all occasions year round! It uses the playful Friendly Gnomes stamp set:

Create playful fairytale cards with the Friendly Gnomes set. This all-occasion set is perfect for birthdays, spring, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and much more! Build the cutest scene for the occasion of your choice: mix and match the different gnomes, add a mushroom cottage to complete the scene, and top if off with an adorable greeting. The open lines of the art allow you to customize each gnome or other designs by coloring them with your favorite coloring tool. Choose the color shades of your choice, then simply stamp and color to create fun whimsical cards!

Instructions

1. Cut all pieces according to directions.
2. Score the box base at 1” on all four sides. On the 7 ½ side score at 3 ¼ & 4 ¼.

3. On the long side cut the score lines at the top and bottom of the box to create tabs. Cut up the score lines between the 3 ¼ and 4 ¼ as shown in picture. Make sure the L” shape cuts are mirrored.
4. Crease all score lines using your Bone Folder.
5. Slightly trim the outer corner tabs of the base.
6. Glue the outer corner tabs towards the inside to create the top and bottom of your box. Fold the middle tabs in to create the bottom of the box. The top of the box folds over bottom to close.
7. Stamp and color your Gnome image on your piece of Basic White using your Blends.
8. Using your Memento Black ink, stamp the grass three times on a 2” x 3" piece of Parakeet Party and fussy cut.
9. Add the Gnome image to the inside top of box. Adhere the grass at bottom of Gnomes’ feet.
10. Stamp sentiment on Basic White scrap using Starry Sky ink. Punch out using the Essential Tags Punch. Punch a scrap of Parakeet Party with punch and cut in half on the horizontal.
11. Add adhesive to the back of sentiment and attach the Parakeet Party halves on back at top and bottom leaving a slight edge showing.
12. Cut approximately 5” of both ribbons. Place together and adhere to back of sentiment using your adhesive.
13. Add Dimensionals and attach to top of box.

1 simple wildflower can create this beautiful effect on your card

Today's project was requested by one of my YouTube followers. She requested a card that uses Watercolor Pencils so that's what I am going to show you today - how to create a beautiful watercolor wash background for your cards. I will be using a single wildflower from the Quiet Meadow bundle to create a simple, beautiful element for my card. You don't want to miss this one!

 

The Quiet Meadow stamp set includes flowers, background patterns, and greetings. Choose one greeting, flower, and pattern or bring several of them together for a collage effect and to convey a positive message.

 

 

Use the dies to create the look of a meadow with wildflowers and beautiful blossoms. Mix and match the pieces or use a single wildflower for a stunning effect which is what I did for today's card.

Want to see how to tell someone special just how much they mean to you?

Tell someone special just how much they mean to you with the Lighting the Way bundle. Use it to create uplifting cards featuring dazzling fireflies that appear to glow. Simply stamp one of the glowing circles in a vibrant yellow, then follow up with a firefly stamp. Stamp your firefly so it appears to be leaving a trail of light in its wake. Embellish your firefly image with greenery, more fireflies (if you wish), and a happy sentiment, such as “Thanks for lighting the way,” and you have a handmade card they’re sure to remember!

Instructions:

1. Die cut the lantern out of the dark silver foil paper. Use the Dark Black Stampin’ Blends to add accent to the lantern. Using glue dots, adhere the 1¼ window sheet circle in the back center of the lantern. 
2. On the 3 ¾” x 5” Basic White layer, stamp the branch and leaves randomly at the top left-hand side using Evening Evergreen ink. Stamp the large circle using Daffodil Delight ink in the lower center for the lantern glow. 
3. Using a Blending Brush apply Daffodil Delight ink in a circular motion to create the glow of light from the lantern. 
4. Stamp the cluster of little flies using Basic Gray going down to the left and up on the right of the lantern glow.  See sample for placement.
5. With a Blending Brush and Night of Navy ink, lightly apply ink to the entire basic white layer keeping the lantern glow yellow.
6. Stamp the small, medium & large solid circles in Daffodil Delight ink as shown on the sample – to simulate the lightning bug glow. Apply Clear Wink of Stella over all the Daffodil Delight images – bug glow & lantern glow.
7. Stamp a small, medium & large firefly using Basic Gray ink. Die-cut. Add color to the lower wings of the large and medium fireflies with the Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends. Add color to the glow-tip of each firefly with the Dark Daffodil Stampin’ Blends.  Also stamp a small, medium, or large circle over the glow-tip of each firefly using Daffodil Delight ink. Apply Wink of Stella over the Daffodil Delight ink on each firefly.
8. Adhere Basic White piece designed above onto the Basic Gray layer.  Adhere the lantern to the piece using dimensionals, adhere the fireflies using dimensionals, refer to sample for placement.
9. Stamp sentiment with Memento Black ink and die cut with shape from the Something Fancy Dies. Adhere sentiment to card front using dimensionals.
10. Adhere this piece to the lower half of the Starry Sky piece (only apply glue to the lower half of the Basic Gray layer). The top half will remain free to form the easel.
11.  Decorate the remaining Basic White layer for the inside of the card as desired.
12. Create a die cut lightning bug using scraps of Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, and Vellum card stock.  Color the vellum wings with Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends. Adhere the die cut to the inside of the card with a dimensional – about 2” from the bottom edge of the card. This is what will keep the easel card erect.

This beautiful project will add a breath of spring to your crafting

The Nested Friends stamp and die bundle from the January – April mini catalog features what must be the most detailed nest images in the stamping world. Whether you use the stamped image or the layered-up die cuts, the resulting projects bring a breath of spring to your crafting.

The stamp set is a red rubber cling stamp featuring a large nest image, a bird, a branch, a range of sentiments and a splatter stamp. The die set feature dies to cut out the stamped images, but in addition has two parts that come together to create a detailed nest. Both parts can be used separately as well. The top part features interwoven twigs. The bottom section is embossed as well as cut. In the die set are a set of four leaf dies. Each die cuts 3 pairs of leaves, so by running the three dies through your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss at the same time, you have plenty of leaves to add to your nest or branch.

There is also a die to cut out a set of three adorable little eggs.

For this card, the nest, branch, and bird were stamped onto Shimmery White card stock with Saddle Brown Stazon ink. Color was added with a water painter and ink. The nest and branch use Soft Suede and Early Espresso with Evening Evergreen leaves. The bird uses Soft Suede and Balmy Blue with Pumpkin Pie for his beak.

These images are layered up onto a Basic White mat that has been sponged with Balmy Blue ink using a Blending Brush. The mat also has some Balmy Blue splatters and a Soft Suede sentiment.

This mat is layered onto a Soft Suede mat and a Thick basic White card base. To embellish the project, a double bow of Linen Thread has been added and some Brushed Metallic Dots.

The little die-cut nest is waiting to be added to another project. The top section is cut from Crumb Cake card stock and the bottom piece from Soft Suede. Leaves were cut from Old Olive card stock. The trio of Pool Party eggs have been stamped in Pool Party ink with the splatter stamp.

This bundle is great for creating cards for lots of different occasions. Stamp a couple of birds and you could create Wedding, Engagement and Anniversary cards. They are also a great idea for a New Home, or what about expecting a baby? Whatever the occasion, you are going to want this bundle in your collection.

Try this easy double door interlocking fold technique the next time you craft

I have shown you so many ideas using the Irresistible Blooms bundle in the past couple of weeks (scroll back through my blog to see all these projects!) and today I have a unique interlocking fun fold idea to share using them once more. 

The phrase for my card, and a fun element that I added inside, comes from the Irresistible Blooms bundle. The set features gorgeous floral designs and sentiments in an elegant font, and is  perfect for all-occasion projects to say hello or thank you and to make someone happy.

 

 

I am also using the Hello Irresistible Designer Series Paper as a standout feature on my fun fold card.  This paper was hand drawn digitally to give it a natural, artistic flair that will complement any project. Cut out some of the designs and use them on card fronts or use the paper as background for all-occasion projects.

Card stock and cutting dimension:

Here's how to make it at home:

Suite/Bundle: Enjoy the Journey Suite-160599, Enjoy the Journey Bundle--160594 These items can be purchased together as a suite which also includes baker’s twine 3 pack, DSP, and Enamel Sticker Icons, a bundle of the stamp set and dies, or separately.

Cardstock: Gorgeous Grape 12” X 12” from the 12” X 12” Brights Cardstock Collection -1457001, a small scrap of Basic Black for die cutting the jogging figure.

Designer Series Paper (DSP) : Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper-160586—one piece of the Gorgeous Grape and green gradient hills paper, and a 3” X 4: piece of the Melon Mambo to Pumpkin Pie gradient paper.

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink

Misc: Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine-149653 or Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine--150673; Paper Snips Scissors—103579; Paper Trimmer--152392; Multipurpose Liquid Glue-110755

 

Instructions:

1. Trim the full sheet of purple and green hills 11” X 11” DSP buy trimming ½” on all four sides.

2. Cut the sheet of DSP in half so that the sky portion is

3. Flip the green side over to show the Starry Sky colored side.

4. Fussy cut or use the hill die to trim off the edge of the sky to make a curvy edge.

5. Overlap the two pieces so that the sky piece covers the top edge of the purple hilly piece. Glue the two pieces together. After gluing, the whole unit was 10-7/8” from top to bottom.

6. Center the glued piece on the Gorgeous Grape cardstock and glue it down.

7. Using your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine cut the two pieces of the tent dies from the Melon Mambo piece of DSP.

8. Also cut the jogging person figure from a scrap of Basic Black Card stock

9. You will use 1 card from the larger set of cards and 1 card from the smaller set of cards in the card pack. You can choose which cards you want. I chose the large card that has a grid with a green area on one long side, and the small card has a white center with an angled black and white edge surrounding the white center. I chose to cut off the green area of the long card.

10. On the large card, stamp “Wishing you joy in this next ADVENTURE” using the Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

11. Stamp “THIS MOMENT is the start of SOMETHING GREAT” using the Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

12. There are 4 cards is the large pack that have stickers to use on your page. I chose the large flower and 3 stars to put on the large card, and 1 star and the remember banner on the small card.

13. Glue the two cards to the page as suggested by the photo of the page.

14. Add 3 of the Enamel Sticker Icons to enhance the page: the fire icon near the tent, the compass icon somewhere on the starry sky, and the 3 trees icon on the darker hill at the edge of the page.

15. Refer to the photo as needed.
