One of the most common questions I get from other crafters is: how do you figure out what to make? Where do you get your inspiration from?
There are times when I am stuck for ideas too, and so in this new series of video tutorials I want to show you how to use a resource that you always have on hand to help you come up with card layouts and design ideas. Introducing my Case the Catty series.
For today's card and video I decided to dust off my Bamboo Beauty stamp set and CASE (copy and share everything) the Annual Catalog (catty) sample - with a twist.
I love most things Asian: the food, the design and yes, the images in this stamp set. I have been so lucky to have visited Japan twice in my life and cannot wait to go back some day. Tip: the paper crafting stores in Tokyo are amazing!
Here are just a couple of photos from my most recent trip there:
A. card stock choices
B. sample ideas (like I try to do for you!)
C specialty paper - a wall of it - like you might see in a wallpaper store
So when I saw the Bamboo Beauty stamp set in the catalog, it was immediately on my must-have list. The bamboo images are sized perfectly for card making; either stamp the branches in a random pattern for a minimal look or use the bamboo and branch images together to create a bamboo forest! The authentic kanji symbols translate to “friendship” so be sure to send a card to all your favorite friends as this stamp set is gender neutral.
Have a look at page 48 in the Annual Catalog - there is one Bamboo Beauty sample that uses Stampin' Blends. And that's the card I chose to CASE.
Here's my sample and what you need to make it at home. Don't miss my video tutorial underneath the supplies list!
