How to care for your ink pads:

1. Keep the ink pad case clean 

Stampin’ UP! color line ink pads are dye-based and are therefore very easy to clean. To clean the case, use a damp paper towel or non-alcohol baby wipe to clean the  cases. You can also clean the case edge next to the ink pad with a moist cotton swab.

2. How to clean foreign material on the pad (if needed)

Yes, this happens! Bits of paper, ribbon, embossing powder or glitter can land on an open ink pad. Use a piece of transparent tape and lay it gently across the impacted surface. Gently pull up the tape and throw it away. This method works for removing any foreign object from the ink pad. Avoid using tweezers or your fingernail as this can damage the foam surface permanently which will create issues when inking your stamps. 

3. What to do if you accidentally mix colors (eek!)

Use a damp (not wet) paper towel and blot off the wrong color. You may need to reink the pad using the correct color. Tip: when purchasing a single ink pad or collection, purchase the reinker collection at the same time!

This fun fold card is easy to create and looks so pretty too

Hi fellow crafters! I love when I get an email from one of my Pinterest followers , asking me to feature a fun fold technique, so Lavonne this video is for you!  I am going to show you the center step technique, which, once again, is perfect for many occasions.  I will be using my Poinsettia Petals stamp set and matching dies and the Tidings of Christmas designer series paper.

 

 

For the main element on my card I decided to use my Poinsettia Petals stamp set and dies - giving my Center Step card a Christmas theme. 

 

 

The Poinsettia Petals set includes images that help you to create custom poinsettias and messages - I really like the variety of Christmas phrases that I can choose from for my holiday cards. The inset pieces for the leaves and poinsettia layers add interesting and textural details - so cool.

 

I also chose to use my Tidings of Christmas designer series paper (love the colors and designs!):

 

 

The Tidings of Christmas paper pack it's sized just right for card fronts. Each sheet is double-sided for twice the options. One side has seasonal designs; the other has all-occasion basic designs. If you have any left over pieces or sheets after the holidays, you can use the basic designs (non-holiday side) for any other projects you want, such as more cards or accents on scrapbook pages.

See how one stamp set is perfect for a variety of occasions

Inspired by impasto paintings, the floral images in the Art Gallery stamp set can be used to create a variety of different cards and a variety of different occasions. Frankly, I think this bundle is amazing: 

You can use the phrases in the stamp set or the phrase in the dies with no stamping at all - it's your choice! And funny, on today's sample I didn't use any phrase at all; instead I will add a phrase inside my card or use it as a notecard to write a long letter inside instead.

This week's Paper Craft Crew card map challenge is a great way to feature your favorite designer series paper!

I am currently loving the Blackberry Beauty designer series paper - heck, I even love the name! Wouldn't it be fun to have to name papers and colors for Stampin' Up! I'm in!

 Anyway, the colors in this paper pack are perfect for masculine cards, fall cards and Thanksgiving projects. I decided to use a left over piece for my card. Funny but when I first had everything all laid out and ready to attach, I turned over the Blackberry Beauty layer and decided to use it on top instead. Has that ever happened to you? 

The large square kind of stumped me until I thought about my Floral Gallery dies - and realized it could be my feature instead of something else. And instead of making it a square I used my Stitched Rectangles dies so that the phrase would fit nicely. 

And then I decided to turn my card on it's side - instead of a portrait layout I would have a landscape layout. I love the look!

Have you ever tried to combine your favorite hobbies to see what you get?

I would love to know what you combined with stamping and how it worked for you. For many years I have been intrigued by Mixed Media but never took a leap of faith to give it a try. 

Do you know what mixed media is? According to Wikipedia: In visual art, mixed media describes artwork in which more than one medium or material has been employed. Assemblages, collages, and sculpture are three common examples of art using different media. Materials used to create mixed media art include, but are not limited to, cloth, paper, wood and found objects.

I was first introduced to mixed media at a Stampin' Up! convention, years ago. We had the opportunity to sign up for an extra class where we created a mixed media canvas using catalog supplies and paint. It was completely amazing and blew my mind. And that experience stuck with me ever since. 

But I never did anything about it. 

Until this week! I ordered a visual journal and some acrylic paints and decided it was time to give mixed media a try. 

 

I have so many left over products from former catalogs and thought it was time to stop faffing about and see art I can create. My journal will be a place to play, explore, trial and mess about. Anything that bombs is immediately forgiven. I see my journal as a safe place to experiment before moving over to a canvas.

Today I am going to show you how to create a gorgeous card idea and how to create a matching envelope! I will be using the lovely Beauty of Friendship stamp set, the Beautifully Penned designer series paper, the yummy Timeworn Type embossing folder, and the Tailored Made Tags dies to create my card.

The Beautifully Penned paper has a watercolor look in various black tones, making it easy to use with any color or any style for your projects. I have used the Meadow dies a lot this summer because I love the wildflowers that you can create by mixing and matching the different pieces to get the right look for your creation.

See how a simple card layout can help you to create the best look

Today's card has such a simple layout but that doesn't mean that my card will not be beautiful. I decided to use catalog products that were designed to be combined for card making and that certainly takes away any guesswork, doesn't it? 

I chose my Beauty of Friendship bundle

along with the matching Beauty of the Earth designer series paper: 

I think it is the colors that I chose that help make my card such a stand out. I chose: Cinnamon Cider, Merry Merlot, and Misty Moonlight. Yummy! 

Here's my card - so simple right? 

Here's how to make my card:

Here's an easy way to use up your left over paper scraps

Learn this super easy paper strip technique that is perfect for many occasions

Today I am going to show you a super easy paper strips technique that is perfect for many occasions.  I will be using the playful Nuts about Squirrels stamp set and some leftover pieces of the Blackberry Beauty designer series paper to create a fall themed card. But once you learn this technique you can use it for any occasion you need!

It's easy to go nuts with the Nuts about Squirrels stamp set. This set features two cheeky squirrels that will look adorable scampering across any of your projects. Create a scene using the acorns, leaves, and tree branch. Mix and match the greetings with the images to create cards for birthdays, get well, and thinking of you. Use the Two-Step pieces to add color to your squirrel, add texture to your leaf, or to create a multicolored acorn. Or if you’re feeling especially artistic, you can color the squirrels using your favorite coloring techniques. No matter where you live in the world, you can customize these critters to match the fauna outside your house. Red, gray, brown—these creatures are just plain cute no matter their color.

Join this fun challenge using the 5 Olympic colors

This week's card map challenge was a tough one for me. A fun theme but I kinda went blank when I saw it.  What can you create with these five colors?

I dug through my designer paper stash, I looked through my card stock colors and through my stamp sets. Nothing came to mind. Then I spotted a left over square of the Beauty of the Earth designer paper.

And that particular pattern has 3 of the 5 colors - almost four if you consider the orange-red leaves a kind of red. This paper pack is seriously yummy and I have almost used it all up - and Fall isn't even here yet! Well done me but, yikes! 

So I added a black layer under the square (with Bumblebee on top), a layered phrase and two dragonflies from the Dragonfly Garden bundle:

And here's my card!

This drop-down gatefold masculine card has a fun surprise inside

Hi fellow crafters! Today I am going to show you a fun twist on the gatefold card technique - a twist that creates a fun surprise inside.  I will be using my Sailing Home stap set and matching Smooth Sailing dies, my Layering Circles dies and  a brand new product from Stampin' Up!s Sale-a-Bration catalog!
