Try this fun tic tac toe challenge for your next card design

I think tic tac toe boards are so much fun to use for card map challenges. So of course I was delighted to see this week's Paper Craft Crew post: 

Sometimes I mull and fret over which row or column to choose. But this week I didn't hesitate. After glancing over the board I chose: Ribbon, Punch and Floral. 

I chose my Daisy punch - both a flower AND a punch (feeling pretty proud of that brainwave). 

I know that I wanted to use Bumblebee for my card base - because it matches my Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon. I am so excited that this ribbon is NOT retiring - yay!

And then I decided to use a sheet of the Dandy Garden designer paper - this is such a fun, colorful pack of paper.

See how one pack of dies makes a beautiful Mother's Day card

This week I have another beautiful Mother's Day card idea to share using the brand new Quiet Meadow stamp set, the Pierced Blooms dies and 2021-23 In Colors. So let's get started, shall we?

 

The main feature on my card is the Pierced Blooms dies. I used three of them for my card layout. 

I also used the new Quiet Meadow bundle - as you can see you can purchase the stamp set separately OR bundle the set with its matching dies - lovely on their own too - for a 10% discount. 

And I used three of the new In Colors: Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia and Pale Papaya. 

 

I created a video tutorial showing how I created my Mother's Day card. I posted the video under the card photo and supplies list - watch for bonus tips ideas along the way.

• Misc. – Stitched So Sweetly Dies (151690); Stitched Nested Label Dies (149638); Brick & Motor (149643); Petal Pink Organdy Ribbon (149441); Resin Hearts (154578); Stampin Blends Crumb Cake Combo (154882); Tear N Tape (154031); Dimensionals (104430);

Measurements:  

• Petal Pink Card base: 8 1/4 “ x 5 7/8 “
• Petal Pink card: 3” x 5 3/4 “
• Petal Pink card: 4” x 2”
• Crumb Cake card: 2 5/8 “ x 3 3/4 “
• Crumb Cake card:             2 1/2 “ x 1 3/4 “

Instructions:

• Fold and score card base
• Die cut the two Crumb cake cards using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies
• Stamp Petal Pink matting with Petal Pink ink using the sentiment stamp, bones, and paw prints stamp
• Run scissors around the edge to rough up
• Stamp sentiment on small die (crumb cake) with Crumb Cake ink
• Stamp envelope stamp using Crumb Cake ink onto larger Crumb Cake card die cut
• Die Cut the Stitched Nested Label from the Petal Pink card, then run through using the Brick & Motor embossing folder
• Stamp Dog with Memento ink onto Basic White card
• Stamp heart onto scrap Petal Pink card using Petal Pink ink
• Adhere Petal Pink matting to card base with liquid adhesive
• Adhere large Crumb Cake die cut to card using liquid adhesive
• Secure ribbon to the base of Petal Pink die ( highly recommend using Tear N Tape), then secure to card base with more Tear N Tape
• Using dimensionals pop up sentiment and secure onto card
• Fussy cut heart and adhere to sentiment
• Colour the dog with the Crumb Cake Stamp Blends Combo, fussy cut and pop up with dimensionals to card
• Add a scattering of white Resin Hearts to card

What to do when you are faced with a complicated card map challenge

This week's card map challenge presented a, well, challenge for me (ha)! I don't have any curvy dies and that put me into a bit of a panic. 

Until I realized - this is just a map. I dug around into my crafting stash until I found a few products that I wanted to use. Remember the Paper Blooms designer paper from this year's Sale-a-bration? Yes, I found a left-over piece and decided to use it up. 

I used both sides of my chosen design and realized that it would perfectly match my Pierced Blooms dies! Bonus! 

I chose a phrase for an occasion that is coming up and ..... here's my card:

Hi fellow crafters! This week I have another beautiful Mother's Day card idea to share using the brand new Quiet Meadow stamp set and 2021-23 In Colors. This card has a unique layout that will be fun for you to learn. So let's get started, shall we? 

The moment I spotted the Quiet Meadow bundle on the new catalog preorder list I knew I had to have it. See how to take one card layout idea and bundle and create two beautiful cards

I have such a fun idea for you today. I am going to show you how to take one bundle and create two beautiful card ideas. There is also a little trick thrown in for those of you who have purchased the dies but not the stamp set (yet)!

Let's jump right in to making these two beautiful cards. First the photo and then keep reading to see what you need and how to make each one. 

 

 

Card one (on the left): YOU MEAN SO MUCH CARD: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" (10.5 x 14.9 cm)

PRODUCTS USED:

In Bloom Bundle; Balmy Blue and Very Vanilla Cardstock;
In Good Taste Designer Series Paper; Balmy Blue, Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam, and Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Pads; Fine Art 3/8" (1 cm) Ribbon; Stampin’ Dimensionals

Instructions: 

1. Rub the Soft Sea Foam Classic Stampin’ Pad over one piece of 2" x 2" (5.1 x 5.1 cm) Very Vanilla Cardstock, and the Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ Pad on the other piece of 2" x 2" (5.1 x 5.1 cm) Very Vanilla Cardstock. Rub the smallest piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock (1" x 1"; 2.5 x 2.5 cm) with Soft Suede ink. Die cut the flower pieces from the inked cardstock. (so cool right!)

2. Stamp the sentiment on another piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock (2-1/2" x 1-3/4"; 6.4 x 4.4 cm) and die-cut.

3. Stamp background flowers on last piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock
(3" x 4-1/2"; 7.6 x 11.4 cm) in Balmy Blue, Petal Pink, Soft Sea Foam, and Soft Suede ink.

4. Fold the Balmy Blue Cardstock (8-1/2" x 5-1/2"; 21 x 14.9 cm) in half to create the card base.

5. Adhere the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (4" x 3-1/4"; 10.2 x 8.3 cm) to the card front.

6. Snip the ends of the ribbon. Fold ribbon in half and adhere to the back of the sentiment piece. Adhere to stamped Very Vanilla Cardstock using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

7. Layer flower pieces and adhere next to sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere entire piece to card.

PRODUCTS USED: 

In Bloom Bundle; Balmy Blue and Very Vanilla Cardstock;

Instructions: 

1. 6. Snip the ends of the ribbon. Fold ribbon in half and adhere to the back of the sentiment piece. Layer flower pieces and adhere flower and sentiment to stamped Very Vanilla Cardstock using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adhere entire piece to card.

There are so many possibilities with this card map challenge

This week's card map challenge is quite fun - there are so many ways to design a card using it! 

Normally I would choose a designer paper pattern as one of my layers for this type of map. But over the weekend I noticed that my World of Good Memories & More card pack was gathering dust and will be retiring very soon so I thought I would flip through the cards to see if anything caught my eye.

Ok back to my card design (be still my beating heart). I chose two of the cards from my pack and trimmed each a bit so that I could layer them on my card front. 

Then I did something unusual - for me. Instead of puzzling over what to do with the small 'flower' image on the map, I chose the 'travel' sticker from the sticker sheet and added it. Love it! 

My final puzzle was what to do about the splatter images. And then I let them go. I chose, instead to use from Pearl Basic Jewels.

How to make a beautiful watercolor background on your cards

Mother's Day will be here before you know it and I have a great idea for you to try. I am going to show you how to create a beautiful watercolor background for a Mother's Day card. This idea will also work well for birthdays, friendship and anniversary cards.

1. Fluid 100 Watercolor paper:

Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper is a thick paper designed especially for watercoloring. Cold-pressed, archival cotton paper. Natural white color with subtle texture. 10 sheets in a pack.

When you think of the outdoors what color combinations come to mind?

This week's Paper Craft Crew challenge is wide open for your crafting delight.

What comes to mind when you think of outdoor colors? For my card I looked right away at my stash of designer paper and found a pack that is definitely all about the outdoors:

The Fine Art Floral paper pack is retiring soon and I am going miss those beautiful patterns and designs, how about you? 

Once I found a pattern in this pack that I wanted to use, I then used the coordinating Art Gallery bundle to create my image and phrase - so easy!
