You need to take our fun card map challenge

This week's Paper Craft Crew card map challenge is super fun! It is a Tic Tac Toe challenge - which row will you choose?

 

 

I chose the top row: #simplestamping, birthday celebrations and sequins! I decided on a birthday phrase from the Better Together stamp set:

Here are my design features:

• I used my Stamparatus for perfect phrase placement down the right side of my cad
• I chose my Lemon Lime Twist ribbon to use which then helped me decide on the card colors
• I stamped the phrase down the side first, then added the Lemon Lime Twist bubbles using the Beauty Abounds set:

• to stamp the bubbles I first stamped off onto a piece of scrap paper before stamping on the card stock. This makes the color much lighter as a background accent
• I added the Basic Black Baker's Twine on top of the Lemon Lime ribbon to pull the colors together (and use up my supplies!)
• I completed my card by adding three blackheads from the Metallics Sequins embellishments

Let me walk you through my design process. 

The first card was super easy to make: I layered Call Me Clover onto Night of Navy and then onto a 4" x 6" Whisper White. The square is for a photo and the remaining white space on the side is for a photo title or journaling.  The final touch on this card was three punched flowers:

The card below used one of the card pack cards with a square of Call Me Clover on top - for another photo. The Whisper White banner and floral embellishment (from the card pack) completed this card:

The card below used one of the card pack cards and I added a Call Me Clover and punched flower embellishment. I could add a photo but most likely will leave it blank. 

The card below is another card pack card with a square of Call Me Clover added on top. I finished it off with a Night of Navy banner and flower sticker embellishment:

The next cards is a 4" x 6" card from the pack. I added a Whisper White layer with a sticker border. This will be my title card for my page. 

The two cards below are for journaling and come from the card pack. I left them plain:

And here is my final Happiness Blooms page using all the cards above - ready for my next adventure. I slid all the page cards into one of the Photo Pocket Pages, ready for my photos and memories:

Measurements:  

• Real Red:           8 ½” x 5 ½ ” folded in half to create card base
• Pacific Point : 2 ¾ ” x 3 ½”

Instructions:

1. Lay Hardwood stamp face up on flat surface. Add Early Espresso ink to stamp, then lay Real Red card on top. Cover with a scratch paper and rub all over to ink up card stock. Remove card stock from stamp. 
2. Using Pacific Point ink pad, stamp sentiment in top left corner of smaller white card stock using Pacific Point ink. Stamp paw
   prints on the left side of larger white card stock (this piece goes on the inside of the card). Optional: Stamp pet bowl (from Nine Lives stamp set) on small scrap of white and color by “pulling” the ink from the image into the space with a Blender Pen. 
3. Using Early Espresso ink pad, stamp dog house under stamped sentiment and a bone onto the scrap of white. Cut out bone and bowl with scissors. 
4. With the Real Red ink pad, stamp the bold house image under the roof, a small heart to the right of the sentiment and “Keep Calm” on the larger white card stock with the paw prints.  
5. Emboss the dog stamp onto Early Espresso using Versamark ink, white Stampin’ Emboss powder and a heat tool. Cut out dog using the Dog Builder punch.
6. Assemble card as shown, uning dimensionals under Pacific Point layer, Dog and bowl/bone.

Instructions: 

1. Score Whisper White Thick at 4 1/4" and fold to form card base.
2. Stamp the leaf image in Call Me Clover ink in the lower right corner of the Whisper White (5" x 3 3/4") and the palm leaf image in Lemon Lime Twist.
3. Glue the stamped Whisper White to the Poppy Parade layer (5 1/8" x 3 7/8") and glue both to the front of the card.
4. Stamp the flower image in Poppy Parade ink on the Whisper White (2" x 2") and cut out with the coordinating framelits.
5. Pop up the flower with Stampin' Dimensionals on the stamped leaves.
6. Glue the strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP) to the bottom of the stamped Whisper White lining up the right sides.
7. Stamp the sentiments in Versamark ink on the Poppy Parade strip (½” x 2 ¾”), apply White Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat set.
8. Glue the embossed strip to the card centering  on the DSP.
9. Add the flower sequins randomly on the card.

You need to try this beautiful designer paper technique

Today I have a very unique Paper Craft Crew card map challenge! Instead of the normal white background this map challenges you to create a card using a darker color card base and then add several other elements that contrast yet pull the card together. 

What caught my eye was the swirl on the card map - especially the pattern on the swirl. And then I got an idea...

I knew immediately that I wanted to use my Flourish thinlits for the swirl - but how to get that pattern on it? Hmmm.

I chose the pattern that was Mint Macaron and Basic Black and then my card design came together quite quickly after that. My card base would be Mint Macaron and then I would use a strip of Pick a Pattern Washi Tape,  and some Basic Black Faceted Dots  for my embellishments:

Measurements:  

• Petal Pink CS: 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, scored in half at 4-1/4”; and a scrap for die cutting
• Whisper White CS: 5 3/8” x 4 1/8” layer; 5 1/4” x 4” for the inside; and scraps for die cutting and punching
• DSP vellum: 5 ¼” x 4”

 

Instructions:

1. Burnish the fold in the card base using a Bone Folder.
2. Stamp the sentiment in Petal Pink ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS, cut it out using the Pretty Label Punch, then ink the edges in Petal Pink using a Sponge Dauber.
3. Die cut a heart from Petal Pink CS and one from Whisper White CS.
4. Glue the 5 3/8” x 4 1/8” Whisper White layer onto the front of the card base.
5. Adhere the sentiment onto the vellum layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
6. Glue the two die cut hearts onto the vellum layer.
7. Glue the vellum layer onto the Whisper White CS layer, putting glue only behind the pieces attached to the front, and one teeny tiny dot of glue behind each corner.
8. Glue the 5 1/4” x 4” Whisper White CS onto the inside of the card.

Celebrate someone special with some birthday cheer

When you think of birthday colors do you normally think of black? I sure don't but today's card certainly dispels that myth I have in my creative head.

Instructions:

1. Attach Coastal Cabana layer to the front of the card base.
2. Run the Basic Black layer through the Big Shot to die-cut the presents. Place Thinlit close to the top of the Black piece to leave a border at bottom.  
3. Attach the Package die-cut layer to the Whisper White layer and trim around the packages on both sides, so the Coast al Cabana layer shows.
4. Using your Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blends and Lemon Lime Stampin’ Write Marker color the open spaces of the presents. 
5. Stamp greeting in Black Memento Ink in the top left area of the Whisper White layer.
6. Attach the white finished layer to the Coastal Cabana layer on the front of the card.
7. Add Rhinestones to the bows and a few of the circles on the tall present.

You need to try this fun designer paper trick

The Hello Cupcake is one of your free choices! This set was paired with the Botanical Butterfly designer paper (another free choice!) to make the colorful card below. 

The trick to this card is using the designer paper - the striped paper was colored using Stampin' Blends which makes this card so cheerful!

• Misc. – Big Shot Die Cutting Machine (143263); Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430); Call Me Cupcake Thinlits (150072), Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372), Silver Embossing Powder (109131), Story Label Punch (150076), Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (149622), Coastal Cabana/Granny Apple Green 3/8” Reversible Ribbon (148572), Bermuda Bay Light Stampin’ Blends Marker (144580). Measurements:  

• Coastal Cabana: 4.25” x 11” for card base, scored at 5.5”, scrap for icing
• Granny Apple Green: scrap for cupcake base
• Whisper White: 3” x 3” and scrap for sentiment
• Black & White Stripe from Designer Series Paper: 4.25” x 1.5”
• Coastal Cabana/Granny Apple Green 3/8” Reversible Ribbon: 8”

Instructions:

1. Use the Stampin’ Blends to color the white sections of the striped designer series paper.  Rotate thru the 3 colors as you go across the paper.  Fold the card base in half and adhere this piece to the bottom of the front of the card base.
2. Using Versamark ink, stamp confetti all over the top portion of the card front.
3. Wrap ribbon around card front and adhere ends such that they will be hidden under the cupcake piece. The Granny Apple Green color is displayed.
4. Stamp cupcake wrapper image on scrap of Granny Apple Green cardstock using Granny Apple Green ink. Stamp icing image on scrap of Coastal Cabana cardstock using Coastal Cabana ink.  Rub the Embossing Buddy across the stamped icing image. Stamp confetti image on top of the frosting image using Versamark ink. Cover the stamped frosting image with Silver Embossing Powder and shake off excess powder.  Use Heat Tool to melt the embossing powder.   
5. Rub the Embossing Buddy across the scrap piece of Whisper White card stock.  Stamp Celebrate Your Day! using Versamark ink, cover with Silver Embossing Powder & shake off excess powder.  Use Heat Tool to melt embossing powder.  Punch out the sentiment using the Story Label Punch and adhere to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. 
6. Use the Big Shot to die cut the cupcake wrapper and icing using the Call Me Cupcake Thinlits dies.  Use the largest stitched square thinlit die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies to create the stitched square shape.  Assemble the cupcake on the stitched square using Stampin’ Dimensionals under the icing. Add 3 Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins to the stitched square shape. Adhere cupcake piece to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
