A friend at work has asked me to create a special birthday card for someone who loves cats. So of course I grabbed my Pretty Kitty stamp set. I didn't, however, want the card to be too 'cutesy' so chose the Urban Underground paper and washi tape to balance the cute images in the set.

Here's how to make this card: 

Supplies: 

• Stamp Sets – Hey, Chick (143331); Nailed It Bundle (144735) 
• Card Stock/DSP  – Basic Black (121045); Very Vanilla (101650); Urban Underground Specialty Designer Paper (142783)
• Stamp Pads – Basic Black Archival (140931); Smokey Slate (131179); Delightful Dijon (138327) 
• Misc. – Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder (143231) Banner Framelits (132173) Watercolor Pencils (141709); Urban Underground Washi Tape (142787); Stampin’ Sponge (141337); Linen Thread (104199) 

Measurements:  

• Very Vanilla Cardstock Base 5 ½” x 8 ½”
• Basic Black Cardstock, card front layer 5 ½” x 4 ¼” 
• Very Vanilla Cardstock, card front layer, 5 ¼” x 4”
• Very Vanilla Cardstock scraps for Hexagon and sentiment cut out.
• Urban Underground DSP at least 2 ½” x 4 ½” for banner cut out.
• Linen Thread – about 16” 

Instructions:

1. Die cut the Hexagon shape from Very Vanilla, stamp the chick on Hexagon shape in Archival Black and color in with Watercolor Pencils. (Tip: blending yellow and brown will give you a Dijon color with highlights. Do not need to watercolor!) Sponge edges with Smokey Slate.
2. Stamp the Sentiment in Archival Black and die cut. Accent with smiley faces stamped in Delightful Dijon. Sponge edges with Smokey Slate.
3. Die cut banner from Urban DSP.
4. Ink up Hexagon folder (logo side) with Delightful Dijon (tip: be generous if you want a little extra color in your “chicken wire” background and emboss Very Vanilla CS layer.
5. Layer card together in this order: place the Urban DSP banner on Very Vanilla embossed card front (you will need to use adhesive as the washi tape is pretty narrow and does not hold well), place strip of Urban Washi across the top of banner, adhere the Chicken in the Hexagon piece, tie Linen Thread around the Very Vanilla embossed CS layer placing the bow under the chicken in the Hexagon, layer the Very Vanilla embossed CS on the Basic Black card front, layer this on the Very Vanilla CS base, now add the sentiment under the linen thread using dimensionals.

• Misc. – Regals Stampin’ Write Markers (131262); Subtles Stampin’ Write Markers (131263); Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies (1427498);  Embossing Buddy (103083); Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder (109130); Heat Tool (129053); Rhinestone Basic Jewels (119246); Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430); SNAIL Adhesive (104332) 

 

Measurements:  

• Whisper White: 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”  scored at 4 1/4"; 3 3/4" x 5”3” x 3 1/2"1/2" x 3”

• Elegant Eggplant:5 1/8” x 3 7/8” 

Instructions:

1. Rub Embossing Buddy over the Whisper White 3” x 3 1/2” piece.  Use Versamark ink and stamp the detailed dragonfly.  Cover with Clear Embossing Powder and set with Heat Tool.
2. Use Elegant Eggplant and Pear Pizzazz markers to color in the wings and then use a tissue to remove ink from the embossed areas.  Cut out the dragonfly using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies. 
3. Use Elegant Eggplant and Pear Pizzazz ink with the small splatter stamp from Timeless Textures to the left side of the Whisper White 3 3/4" x 5” piece.  
4. Stamp sentiment using Elegant Eggplant ink onto the Whisper White strip and flag the end.
5. Using SNAIL adhere all the layers together and onto the card base.  
6. Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the dragonfly and the sentiment.
7. Finish off with 3 Basic Rhinestone Jewels.

How to make a beautiful Valentine

I love the simplicity and beauty of Valentine's cards. Do you as well? Usually I choose white and pink and red as colors for Valentines but occasionally I also like to try different colors and layouts to share with you.

Today is one of those times. I have my monthly Sunday Crafternoon class and the theme I chose is love, wedding and Valentines. I looked around for a bit of inspiration and spotted a card on Pinterest that caught my eye. I decided to use this idea with my own twist for one of my class card, using the Sheltering Tree stamp set.

A delightful and successful Stampin' Up! team experience

Today was an amazing day. Over 60 Stampin' Up! demonstrators gathered together in Dordrecht (Netherlands) to spend the day together. It was a team event and everyone had a blast stamping, sharing business tips, tricks and ideas and getting to know each other better.

Be inspired by a Bloomin' Love Valentine

This week I am trying to share a lot of Valentine card ideas with you to help boost your creativity. You may not be into stamping Valentine cards but think beyond the theme and instead try the layout idea. 

That's what I am part of the Paper Craft Crew design team - each week we offer you a card map challenge and invite you to enter your card creations over on our website. All design team members create a card using the same map and post our cards so you can see a variety of ideas for one simple map.

I am determined to use up all of my Washi Tape before it retires so plan on seeing LOTS of ideas in the next few months!

A surprisingly fun double take on two-step stamping

Two step stamping does not have to be complicated or messy. Today's Valentine card uses two-step stamping to create a beautiful, yet easy card! • Paper: Blushing Bride (131198), Sahara Sand (121043), Very Vanilla (101650), Falling in Love designer series paper (142788)
• Other: Very Vanilla 1/4” Satin Ribbon (142794), Mini Glue Dots (103683)

 

Measurements: 

Blushing Bride: 8.5” x 5.5”

Sahara Sand: 4” x 5.25”

Designer Series Paper:  3.75” x 5”, 3.75” x .75”

Very Vanilla: 3.75” x 2.5”

 

Instructions:

1. Attach the Blushing Bride designer paper and Very Vanilla cardstock to the layer of Sahara Sand cardstock.
2. Attach the Sahara Sand designer paper onto the bottom of the Very Vanilla layer.
3. Using Blushing Bride ink, stamp the word LOVE onto the Very Vanilla layer as shown.
4. Using Sahara Sand ink, stamp off once onto scrap paper and then stamp the solid LOVE image onto the Very Vanilla cardstock directly over the first image.
5. Tie a bow using the ribbon and attach it to the card using a Mini Glue Dot.
