I have struggled for a few years to find an agenda that can track my days, weeks and months. I have tried so many ideas but have either been appalled at the cost of some agendas or the organization of others just hasn't worked for me. I have tried paper and electronic and .... it was just not working.
Now I think I have found the system that will work for me!
Introducing the bullet journal!
Here's what my journal looks like on the outside - for now! I can see all sorts of possibilities for outside embellishments but for now I am keeping it plain. This journal travels with me daily and in my purse so if I decide at some point to decorate it, I will have to keep it simple. I went with a Moleskin journal (lined) because it seemed the most durable of all blank journals I could find at my local stationery store.
Here's how you can create a bullet journal too:
Step one: reserve the first few pages of your journal to become an index. I saved 6 pages and then realized that was likely too many. But that's ok because this first journal will help me learn how to make the next one even better.
As my journal began to take shape I then added page numbers in the bottom right corner of every page and then added these page numbers to the index in my journal. You will see that I stopped numbering at February to make sure that step four was going to work for me.
Step two: Set up your Future Log pages: three months per page and separate the months by drawing a line. Here you will note those long range events that you know now and will encounter at the year goes by. I used four pages in my journal.
Step three: Set up your Monthly Task list pages. There will be two pages for each month. The left side is for the dates and the days of the week. The right side is for a Task List that are big picture items that need to be completed. It could also include holidays, vacations, birthdays, or Stampin' Up! events! You can transfer events from from your Monthly Log pages to these pages to help you keep track.
Step four: Monthly to-do lists. I noted three days per page and now wish I had done two per page because I have a lot of to-dos it seems (next year!) You can see in the photo that I will also use my journal to track my social media analytics, to see what is working and what needs consideration or tweaking.
After I started my monthly pages I realized I could use my stamps to make them more fun. As the year goes by I will see what other Stampin' Up! products I can use. I love color and so have a set of fine tip color markers that I plan to use as well. As I mentioned I stopped at February 2017 in case I need to have more room for the rest of the year.
That leaves a few extra pages in my journal. What will I use these for? So many ideas right now:
- books to read
- Stampin' Up! business goals
- Customer tracker
- ??? (do you have any ideas? please share them with me in the comments box below!)
I have had my system in place for two weeks. The results? I now have two free hours each night to do...whatever I want.
Yes, I think this system is the one for me! If you want to learn more about bullet journals, check out this site or just do a search Google!
