Instructions:

1. Ink Hardwood background stamp in Crumb Cake ink - stamp on 4 x 5-1/4 Crumb Cake layer - sponge edges with same ink.
2. Emboss Pumpkin Pie layer in Woodgrain embossing folder - adhere to Crumb Cake layer.
3. Die cut Pacific Point scalloped circle and Designer Series Paper circle with Layering Circles Framelits in Big Shot - adhere together.
4. Trim Burlap Ribbon ends on a diagonal - adhere to Pumpkin layer.
5. Add circle layers to card front with Dimensionals.
6. Stamp greeting on Whisper White strip with Soft Suede ink - trim banner end - apply to card front.
7. Stamp scarecrow with Archival Black ink.
8. Apply markers to a non-pourous surface - like a piece of ceramic tile or your stamp case.
9. Pick up color for the larger areas of the scarecrow with Aqua Painter and apply to image. 
10. Color in smaller images like the patches with markers.
11. Tie a bow with Linen Thread - add to scarecrow with a mini glue dot.
12. Adhere scarecrow to circle layers with Dimensionals.

How to make your own background paper

Today I want to show you what to do when you realize you don't have background paper to match a card idea that you want to create - you make your own!

That's what I did today for this week's Paper Craft Crew card map challenge:

So I decided to stamp the smaller images in the Halloween Scares stamp set in Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie to make my own background. Then I added a strip of the Playful Palette paper and the Halloween Night Baker's Twine to match the elements on the card map. I got a bit stuck on the phrase and then decided to use my B.Y.O.P. stamp set so this card could be used for a Halloween gift idea - perhaps for a special little person who cannot eat Halloween candy!

Over the next several weeks I am going to show you each card in this card and the steps I took to create it. That way when you purchase this kit you will not only have a photo of the card in the kit box, but additional step-by-step photos to go with it. 

Today I am going to share how I made card #7:

 

 

1. Gather all your supplies. I created my bow in the beginning so it is ready to add at the end. (Yes, I do iron my Baker's Twine to get rid of the kinks!)
   
   
   
   
2. Stamp 'party time' using your black ink spot. 
   
   
   
   
3. Fold your card. I used my bone folder to help keep the card laying flat when closed.
   
   
   
   
4. Now add the paper layers to the card front. I used some Stampin' Dimensionals under the flower piece to pop it up off the card front. Can you see the dot of Fine Tip Glue pen ready for the bow?
   
   
   
   
5. Add the Baker's Twine bow. 
   
   
   
   
6. Stamp the envelope and project #7 is complete.

A great way to use your Washi Tape

Supplies:

Measurements:  

• Pumpkin Pie Cardstock – 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”
• Whisper White Cardstock – 2” x 4-1/8”
• Whisper White Cardstock – scrap piece for word bubble
• Pumpkin Pie Cardstock – 2-1/2” x ¾”scrap piece for words
• Halloween Night Baker’s Twine – 8” 

Instructions:

1. Score the Pumpkin Pie card base at 4 ¼” and fold in half.
2. Draw lines around the front of the card front using the Ink up the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker, leaving a ¼” blank area from each side.  NOTE:  You do not need to draw perfectly straight lines. 
3. Using all 5 spools of Halloween Night Designer Washi Tape, add random lengths to the card base front.
4. Punch the 2” Whisper White cardstock piece using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.
5. Ink up the spooky house image from the Halloween Scares stamp set using the Black Ombre Stampin’ Pad and stamp onto the 2” Scalloped Tag. Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and set in place on the Pumpkin Pie cardbase front.
6. Ink up the Word Bubble image from the Halloween Scares stamp set using Perfect Plum ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White scrap cardstock.
7. Stamp the “eek” from the Spooky Fun stamp set onto the stamped word bubble using Old Olive ink.  Hand cut the word bubble using Paper Snips.  Add the word bubble with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the 2” tag.
8. Stamp the sentiment “happy Halloween” from the Spooky Fun stamp set with Archival Basic Black ink onto the strip piece of Pumpkin Pie.  Die cut using the Bunch of Banners Framelits Die and the Big Shot.  Snip off the right portion of the banners and set in place with a piece of Halloween Night Designer Washi Tape.
9. Tie a bow using both colors of the Halloween Night Baker’s Twine, trim to desired length and add to the Whisper White tag using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
10. Ink the smaller set of 3 bats from the Halloween Scares stamp set using Archival Basic Black ink and stamp onto the Pumpkin Pie card front.

How to make a quick and easy masculine card

Today I have a fun masculine card idea - one that I made for my weekly letter to my son. I used the Seaside Shore product suite and the Layering Ovals framelits:

Keep this a secret - this card was super easy to create!

• cut the paper strips
• stamp and diecut the phrase and layering ovals
• stamp and cut out the fish
• adhere the layers
• the card is done! I added one small touch to the fish - a Basic Pearl Jewel for the eye. 

This card could be a great 'map' idea for you the next time you craft. Give it a try using the supplies you have at home!

This past week we welcomed Sarah to our office team and I thought it would be nice to create a special card for her, using my Stars framelits, Confetti Celebration stamp set and the 2016-18 In Color Paper Stack designer series paper:

Here's my welcome card:

And here are the steps to make it:

1. Gather all your supplies.
   
   
   
   
2. Emboss the stars (Lucky Stars embossing folder #135817) on the Whisper White square.
   
   
   
   
3. Ink and stamp "Yay" using Flirty Flamingo ink.
   
   
   
   
4. Die-cut the stamped star. 
   
   
   
   
5. Add the embossed layer to the front of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. 
   
   
   
   
6. Add the Flirty Flamingo paper strip and star to the card front. Add three Metallic Sequins stars (I used my Fine Tip Glue pen) to complete the card!
   
   

The result? I liked it and Sarah LOVED it! Mission accomplished. 

A basket full of wishes for sensational cards

I recently purchases the Basket of Wishes stamp set and basically set it aside because I didn't really know what I wanted to create with it...until today. And if you love to color, this is the set for you!

I set myself down and decided to use this new set with this week's Paper Craft Crew challenge - a color challenge this week!

I will confess that Emerald Envy is my least favorite new In Color and after using it today I still feel the same. HA. But I was determined to use it on my card and am quite happy with the result.

First a bit more information. I decided not to use Tangerine Tango and I embossed the card base using the new Sparkle (#141468) embossing folder. I colored the image using my blender pens and the three ink colors, along with Crumb Cake for the basket.

2. Stamp 'hi there' onto the speech bubble tag using your black ink spot. Hint: I mounted both stamps onto the block, placing each how I wanted it to look. 
   
   
   
   
3. Fold your card. I used my bone folder to help keep the card laying flat when closed.
   
   
   
   
4. Add your paper strip banner to the heart.
   
   
   
   
5. Wrap a single piece of Baker's Twine around secure in place using a Stampin' Dimensional and your Fine Tip Glue pen. 
   
   
   
   
6. Add the star embellishment. I used my Fine Tip Glue pen to hold it in place. Add the speech bubble using Stampin' Dimensionals. 
   
   
   
   
7. To complete the card add the Baker's Twine bow using your Fine Tip Glue pen.
   
   
   
   
8. Stamp the envelope and project #6 is complete.

Cookie Cutter Scarecrow 

Supplies:

• Stamp Sets: Cookie-Cutter Halloween (142255), Labeler Alphabet (141936)
• Inks: Basic Black (140931), Old Olive (126953), Delightful Dijon (138327), Crumb Cake (126975), Pumpkin Pie (126945)
• Paper: Whisper White CS (100730), Old Olive (100702), Crumb Cake (120953), Basic Black (121045) 
• Other:  Halloween Night DSP (142022), Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper (142029), Cookie Cutter Builder Punch (140396), Leaflets Framelits (138283), Blender Pen (102845), Sponge Dauber (133773), Dimensionals (104430)

 

Measurements: 

Crumb Cake card stock: 5 ½” x 8 ½”, score at 4 ¼”

Old Olive card stock: 3” x 3 ½”  

Basic Black card stock: 3” x 3 ½” 

Halloween Night DSP: 4” x 4 ¼” + a strip approx. 4 ¾” x ¼” 

Whisper White scraps: approx. 5” x ½” for sentiment + 2” x 2 ½” for scarecrow

Paper Pumpkin Glimmer Paper: Small scrap for scarecrow heart

 

Instructions: 

1. Fold your Crumb Cake card base on the score line. 
2. Take the larger piece of Halloween Night DSP and put in your paper cutter at an angle and cut it. Then adhere it to your card front leaving a gap in the middle where you cut the angle.  
3. Using the small strip of Halloween Night DSP in an alternating color than the bigger piece, hold it on the card and cut the edges to match the angles on the end and adhere to card with glue. 
4. Die cut two leaves using Leaftlets Framelits, one in Old Olive and one in black. Adhere the two leaves together with glue making a slight shadow with the black leaf. Add to card with adhesive. 
5. Stamp the scarecrow using Basic Black ink and punch out with the cookie cutter punch. 
6. Color the scarecrow with your blender pen and ink pads. Squeeze your ink pads when they are closed to get ink on the lid and use that ink as your palate to color. To color his face I used Crumb Cake ink and a sponge dauber to rub ink on. 
7. Attach scarecrow to leaf on card front with dimensionals.
8. For the sentiment, stamp letters on Whisper White strip of paper and cut out by hand with scissors. Attach to card with glue.

September is here, the days should be cooler soon and I have already started to see some Pinterest posts all about Halloween. So this week when I sat down to create my design for the Paper Craft Crew challenge I knew where I was headed.
