I love this time of year! It's time to say good-bye to some of the 2015-16 Annual Catalog products which can be sad but then when you realize these retiring products make room for new products, it makes me happy all over again.

How to make the perfect wedding card

Recently I heard that one of my work colleagues eloped and had fabulous honeymoon trip right after. She has invited us over for a wedding brunch and to see her honeymoon photos. So of course I wanted to make her a wedding card to take along. 

Even though it has retired, I have tucked away one of my all time favorite wedding stamp sets - Your Perfect Day - to use when asked to make wedding invitations for my customers. I decided to pull it out again to use for my card, along with yesterday's Paper Craft Crew card map to give me creative inspiration:

Now, for colors I decided to use Wisteria Wonder. Why this color? It perfectly matches the color of a flower the bride had in her hair on her wedding day! And that's how to make the perfect wedding card - match the colors of the bride or the bridal party. She will notice instantly!

Here's my final card idea, using the above map as a guide and Your Perfect Day set. Note: the Color Me Irresistible specialty paper that I used to make the banner (sponged with Wisteria Wonder ink) is retiring - order your pack today!

Get the basics for creating a beautiful card

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Butterfly Basics (138816)

Inks: Rich Razzleberry (126950), Wisteria Wonder (126985) & Pink Pirouette (126956)

Paper: Wisteria Wonder (122922), Rich Razzleberry (115316) and Whisper White (100730)

Other: Big Shot (113439), Bold Butterfly Framelit (138135), Bitty Butterfly Punch (129406), Rhinestone Jewels (119246) Dimensionals(104430), Sponge Daubers (133773), Heat Tool (129053), White Emboss Powder (109132), Versamark ink (102283)

Measurements:

Wisteria Wonder 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4

Rich Razzleberry 5 1/2 x 3

Whisper White 5 1/2 x 2 3/4 and Scraps for Butterflies

Instructions:

1. Stamp butterfly and flower images using Versamark on white cardstock. Cover with white emboss powder (tap off the excess) and melt with the heat tool.

2. Use Sponge daubers to apply inks rubbing over embossed images. Start with the lightest color and end with the darkest. Use tissue to wipe off any ink that pools on top of embossed images

3. Attach the stamped layer to the Rich Razzleberry layer and then to Wisteria Wonder card.

4. Stamp White scrap with images from set with Pink Pirouette and Wisteria Wonder inks overlapping as you go. Stamp Happy Birthday with Rich Razzleberry ink over top.

5. Cut out using the Bold Butterfly framelit and the big shot

6. Stamp small butterfly on scrap of white with Rich Razzleberry ink and punch out with bitty Butterfly punch.

7. Attach butterflies to card using dimensionals and add rhinestones to smallest butterfly.

Celebrate someone special with a lovely card

Today I had the fun of giving a congratulations card to someone special at work. She has worked very hard in the past few years to complete her doctorate in education and was so quiet that her accomplishments had come to a close. 

But I heard about this great news and decided to create a card to honor her. I used the I Think You're Great stamp set and pieces of the Bohemian designer series paper for my card:

Lately several of you have asked me to share what I do on the inside of my card, so I am happy to share with you what I did for this card. I stamped and added the punched banners before adhering the inside layer to the card. That way if I made a mistake I could fix it without ruining the card:

I matched the paper from the outside of the card to the inside - to pull all the elements together:

And of course you can't forget to match the envelope to complete the entire card experience!

I usually send birthday cards, wedding cards, and thank you cards but beside those, and the one I send to my son each week, I seldom let my friends know how grateful I am they are a part of my life. Do you?

Measurements:

Whisper White base card: 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, score at 4-1/4¼”

Bermuda Bay card stock: 4” x 5-1/4” and 3/8” x 2-1/2”

Whisper White: 3-3/4” x 5” and 2” x 4” (tag); scrap white

Instructions:

1. Fold the Whisper White base card in half. Layer the Bermuda Bay mat onto folded card.

2. Run the Whisper White mat through the Big Shot using the embossing folder. Adhere to card.

3. Stamp the 2” x 4” piece of Whisper White cardstock with the leaf stamp using Cucumber Crush ink. Punch the top using the Scalloped Tag Topper punch and round the 2 bottom corners using the Project Life punch.

4. Stamp the trio of flowers stamp onto a piece of scrap white cardstock using Bermuda Bay ink. Punch out using the Blossom Bunch Punch. Layer onto the tag using Dimensionals and add a Rhinestone in the center of all 3 flowers.

5. Stamp the sentiment using the Basic Black ink pad onto the 3/8” strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock. “Notch” both ends to create a banner and adhere to the bottom of the tag.

6. Adhere tag to the card using Stamping Dimensionals.

Ready to create something different?

This week I tried something different for the Paper Craft Crew card map challenge. You know I love a good challenge and this one was intriguing:

First I chose the Go Wild designer series for the background and that paper pick determined the colors I would be using. I decided to stamp on Tip Top Taupe using Basic Black archival ink - I don't often stamp on darker card stock but I quite like how this turned out. For the phrase I used Amazing Birthday:

Learn the bleaching technique to make a gorgeous card

Measurements:

* Whisper White: 8-1/2" X 5-1/2" and 2" X 3"

* Basic Black: 4" X 5-1/4"

* Pink Pirouette: 3-3/4" X 5"

Instructions:

1. Stamp the flower image using versamark and emboss using black embossing powder.

2. Use the aqua painter with bleach and bleach out all of the leaves and around the flower as desired.

3. Dry bleach with the heat tool.

4. Paint the leaves using an aqua painter with water and old olive ink in the lid. You get this by squeezing the lid to pad while it's still closed.

5. Use the Wink of Stella over the bleached area of the flower.

6. Stamp the saying on the small piece of white CS in Versamark and emboss using the black embossing powder.

7. Tear off top corner of the Pink Pirouette CS so that it leaves and opening for the Thank You.

8. Adhere the card together as shown.

I belong to a book club and even though I am away from them for a while I still keep up with the books they are reading and, when possible, Skype in to say hello and share my reflections on the month's book.

As an avid reader myself I am always looking for a fun bookmark idea and at On Stage last Saturday another demonstrator swapped with me and her swap was a bookmark. YAY!

Learn a daring new twist for using your Big Shot framelits

Ok, maybe not so daring, but yesterday I attended one of Stampin' Ups! fun annual events and while there one of the On Stage presenters shared a new twist for using your framelits - technically called 'negative image'. 

I decided to give this technique a try today for my Sunday video tutorial and share it with you. I used my Remember This and Vintage Leaves stamp sets and Ovals Collection and Leaflets framelits to make my card:

It's here, it's exciting, it's convention swap time!

Today is a huge day in the Stampin' Up! world - it's our bi-annual convention (called On Stage) and one of the best part is swapping projects with other customers. Demonstrators in the Netherlands love to swap 3D items and so I was game to create these Convention Crackers as my swap for them. 

I used the Envelope Punch board, my Simply Scored and some left over designer series paper to create these treat holder in no time!
