Make someone smile with this cute birthday card

Today I have a super cute birthday card idea - perhaps for someone special who is either young or young at heart! 

I especially love two things about this card: it uses Washi Tape (my passion lately) and it uses the Hello stamp set which you can earn the stamp set for free with a $50 product order through Sale-a-bration! Click on the catalog cover to download it to your device.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Hello #141243 (FREE during Sale-a-Bration)

Ink: Basic Black # 140931, Melon Mambo #126948

Paper: Whisper White #100730, It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack #140552

Other: It’s My Party Designer Washi Tape #140556

 

Measurements for cutting:

* Whisper White CS 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”

* Whisper White CS 2-1/2” x 3-1/2”

* It’s My Party DSP: 4-1/4” x 5-1/2”(balloons) and 2-1/2” x 4-1/4”(yellow pattern)

 

Instructions:

1. Fold the Whisper White CS in half to create the card base.

2. Layer the It’s My Party DSP onto the Whisper White cardstock as shown above.

3. Stamp “Hello” in Basic Black ink in the center of the Whisper White cardstock.

4. Stamp the “birthday girl” and party hat in Melon Mambo ink directly above and below the sentiment.

5. Adhere the stamped Whisper White panel to the front of the card.

6. Add 2 strips of washi tape to the Whisper White panel.

How to make color coordination a breeze

Today I want to let you in on a little secret. First, let me say that Stampin' Up! has to be the best company to be associated with because they really listen to their demonstrators! If something seems off or if something could better serve you they want to know about it so they can fix or make something better or easier for you. 

Did you know that in previous catalogs (3+ years ago) you had to guess what colors were in Stampin' Up!s designer series paper? The colors were not listed under the catalog photos which caused confusion. Demonstrators and customers (yes, they listen to you too!) wrote in to Stampin' Up! requesting one small change to the catalog and it was only a matter of time before the colors were posted. And this year, Stampin' Up! added cardstock packs (24 sheets, 8 each of three colors) to make coordination a breeze:

I thought of another idea to help you know what colors are in the Occasions Catalog! I created a table showing all the new designer papers in the catalog along with their coordinating colors.

Life on a snowy day makes for perfect memories

Sorry all, I just couldn't spend time stamping today. It snowed last night and most of the day and I had to get outside to play - just like I did when I was a young child!

And my outside play was not wasted. Look what a friend and I created today - a snow lighthouse! I took lots of photos for my Project Life by Stampin' Up! memory book:

Use a card map to help you dream big

Did you ever make a card that can serve three different occasions? Last night I made a card that originally was going to be a birthday card but then today I realized it would be a friendship card or a congratulations card as well. 

I used this Paper Craft Crew card map to help me with my layout. As a design team member I love participating in our weekly challenges:

How to create a touch of shimmer to your valentine

I love sparkle on my cards and the Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper has always been one of my favorite go-to products when I want that effect. Today's card uses an unusual Valentine color - Wisteria Wonder - but when combined with the new Bloomin' Hearts bundle (pg 16 Occasions Catalog), the result is beautiful. This is the perfect card to send to a friend:

 

Bloomin' Love Valentine

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Bloomin’ Love (140818 photopolymer) OR Bloomin’ Love Bundle (140818)

Inks: Elegant Eggplant (126969), Lost Lagoon (133644), Rich Razzleberry (126950)

Paper: Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (135315), Lost Lagoon (133679), Wisteria Wonder (108641), Whisper White (100730)

Accessories: 3/8” Whisper White Stitched Satin Ribbon (138429), Rhinestone Jewels (119246)

Tools: Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits (140621) OR Bloomin’ Love Bundle (140818), Big Shot (113439), Precision Base Plate (139684), Big Shot Die Brush (140603), Fine-Tip Glue Pen (138309), Dimensionals (104430)

 

Measurements:

5-1/2” x 8-1/2” Lost Lagoon Card Base

3-7/8” x 5-1/8” Whisper White

3-3/4” x 5” Wisteria Wonder

 

Instructions:

1. Die-cut the Bloomin’ Heart from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using the Big Shot with the Precision Base Plate. Run it through 2-3 times.

2. Use the Big Shot Die-Brush to remove all the pieces from the die more easily.

3. Adhere the die-cut heart with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen onto the Wisteria Wonder layer.

4. Stamp the sentiment in Elegant Eggplant near the bottom of the heart.

5. Adhere to the Whisper White layer, then wrap the White Stitched Satin Ribbon around the layer, tie into a double-knot and trim. Mount on the card base with Dimensionals.

6. Stamp the solid small & large Bloomin’ Love images in Lost Lagoon, Rich Razzleberry and Elegant Eggplant onto Whisper White card stock. Die-cut with Bloomin’ Heart dies.

7. Adhere the flower onto the heart with Dimensionals.

8. Add Rhinestone Jewels to each flower center.

Learn how to create an explosion of Valentines

Today I have a very unusual (but fun!) Valentine to share with you - featuring an explosion of Valentines! It uses the Groovy Love stamp set, Sweetheart punch and the cool Envelope punch board:

Measurements:  Card Base – Whisper White 4 1/4” x 11” folded to make a 5 1/2” x 4 1/4” card,  Whisper White scrap piece, Sahara Sand (Neutrals DSP) 5” x 5”, Assorted scrap pieces from the Merry Moments DSP, Red Foil Sheet 1” x 6”, Silver Foil Sheet 1” x 6”

Instructions:

1. Fold the Whisper White Card Base in half and crease with your Bone Folder.
2. Ink the outline heart image stamp with Cherry Cobbler and stamp a row down the left side of the folded card base, re-inking between each impression. Set aside.
3. Re-ink the outline heart image stamp with Cherry Cobbler and stamp on the white scrap card stock. Cut out with Paper Snips.
4. Ink the greeting image with Real Red and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Markers. Stamp on Whisper White card stock scrap. Cut out with Paper Snips. Adhere to the cut out heart image with Stampin’ Dimensionals as shown. Set Aside.
5. With the Envelope Punch Board, create a 2 1/2” x 3” envelope with the Sahara Sand 5” x 5” piece of DSP. Use Fast Fuse to secure sides and bottom. Do Not fold over the top flap. Adhere to the card front as shown with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
6. With the Sweetheart Punch, punch 6 hearts from the Merry Moments DSP, using care to punch from the Real Red and Cherry Cobbler dominant color designs.
7. With the small star punch, punch out 5 Silver Foil stars.
8. With the small heart punch, punch out 5 Red Foil hearts. Also punch out 3 small hearts from the Merry Moments DSP.
9. Adhere all the hearts and stars to the envelope and card front as shown using Glue Dots, Fast Fuse and Stampin’ Dimensionals to vary the height.
10. Adhere the cut out heart and greeting to the envelope.
11. Add your greeting to the inside of the card and mail to someone special!

You Send Me Soaring Valentine

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Sky Is The Limit (141282 wood) (141349 clear), Teeny Tiny Wishes (128748 wood) (127802 (clear)

Paper: Real Red (102482), Crumb Cake (12053), Early Espresso (119686), Very Vanilla (101650), Red Foil Sheets (139607)

Ink: Early Espresso (126974)

Other: Happy Heart Embossing Folder (137364), Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439), Washi Label Punch (138296), Confetti Heart Punch (137415), SNAIL adhesive (104332), Fine-Tip Glue Pen (138309)

 

Measurements:

• Crumb Cake 5 ½” x 8 ½”
• Real Red 4” x 5 ¼” (two, one to emboss for the front, the other for the inside layer)
• Early Espresso 1 ¾” x 4"
• Very Vanilla 1 ½” x 4”, 3 ¾” x 5” (inside greeting), scrap for plane banner
• Red Foil Sheets small scrap for punching hearts

 

Instructions:

1. Using the Big Shot, emboss one of the real red pieces with Happy Heart folder.

2. Stamp the airplane and the clouds with Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla card stock.

3. Stamp the words “Happy Valentne’s Day” on scrap of Vanilla and punch out with the Washi Label punch.

4. Stamp the inside greeting “You Send Me Soaring” and ”heart plane exhaust” image on the larger Vanilla piece in Early Espresso ink.

5. Assemble card as shown in the photo.

6. With the Red Foil Sheets, punch out a small heart with the Confetti Heart punch. Use the Fine Tip Glue to attach the heart to the banner.

7. Send someone you love this Valentine wish!

Do you remember Valentine door hangers?

I am likely showing my age here, but I remember door hangers - especially for Valentine's Day and I loved making them!

Today I have a fancy version of a door hanger, using the Bloomin' Love stamp set and brand new Love Blossoms paper stack (pg 17 Occasions catalog):

Here's how to make this cute cones:

Supplies:

* Stamp Sets: Bloomin’ Love (photopolymer-140643)

* Ink pads: Rose Red (126954) and Garden Green (126973) 

* Paper: Love Blossoms paper Stack (140548), Whisper White card stock (100730) and Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper (140550)

* Other: 3/4” Circle punch (119873), 1/8” punch (134365), Sweetheart Punch (133786), Blushing Bride 1/4” Cotton Ribbon (134558), Tear & Tape Adhesive (138995) and Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)

 

Measurements:

* Designer Series Paper- 6”x6”

* Scrap of white for banner and 2” square glimmer paper for heart punch

* Blushing Bride ribbon- 18”

 

Instructions:

1. Punch a small corner off the 6x6 DSP with the 3/4” circle punch (this will be the bottom of your cone).

2. Adhere Tear & Tape adhesive along one edge of the DSP with the corner punched out. Curl and connect into a cone.

3. Punch 2 small holes into the top end of the cone, thread ribbon through from back and tie a bow in front.

4. Stamp banner in Garden Green and “Love You” in Rose Red. Cut out (or use Framelit from Large Numbers Framelits Die and Big Shot).

5. Punch heart from glimmer paper. Adhere banner to front with dimensionals and heart to the front to the cone.

6. Fill and hang on the doorknob of a friend!
