Out with the old but not until...

I have one last chance to play with some retired products that I still love! Even though the Occasions catalog has retired and many products along with it I decided that every once in a while I will still show you a creation using one of them, just in case you are like me and still have some retired products lying around. 

For example, the Artisan kit. I have to admit I never got around to opening it which is sad because it is one of the most beautiful kits Stampin' Up! has produced. 

Here's a card I put together this past weekend. The Blushing Bride and Hello Honey background was sponged directly onto a Whisper White background cut to fit the rose template which was adhered on top:

Add coordinating card stock layers and the card was quickly completed.

A stunning way to say thanks

I have always loved the black & white look and today I have a beautiful thank you card idea featuring these two tones:

 

 

Supplies: 

• Stamp Sets – Six-Sided Sampler (w130953, c130956); Gorgeous Grunge (w130514, c130517)
• Card Stock – Basic Black (121045); Whisper White(100730) 
• Ink – Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (132708)
• Misc. – Project Life Corner Rounder (135346); Hexagon Punch (130919); Washi Label punch (138296); Big Shot (113439); Magnetic Platform (130658); Butterflies Thinlits (137360); Pearl Basic Jewels (119247); Tear & Tape Adhesive (138995);  Dimensionals (104430); SNAIL (104332)

Measurements:  

• Basic Black: 4-1/4 x 11; 1-5/8 x 2-1/4; 1-1/4 x ¾
• Whisper White: 4 x 5-1/4; 1-1/2 x 8-1/2

Instructions:

1. Score Basic Black CS at 5-1/2; fold to form card base.
2. Round corners of Whisper White CS using PL Corner Rounder punch.  Adhere to card front.
3. Stamp Whisper White card front with ‘tread’ image from Gorgeous Grunge using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
4. Using same Memento Black ink, stamp various six-sided images onto long strip of Whisper White card stock.  Punch out each image using the Hexagon punch.  (save your scrap)
5. Adhere 1 punched image flat to card front using SNAIL.
6. Adhere 2 punched images together using Tear & Tape adhesive; Repeat with 2^nd set of punched images.  Add each set to card front using Dimensionals.
7. Using remaining scrap piece of Whisper White CS, stamp ‘sentiment’ using Memento Black ink; Punch using Washi Label punch. (Only 1 end will have the ‘washi’ torn edge.)  Slip punched image back into punch to get the ‘washi’ torn edge to remaining side.  Adhere to small piece of Basic Black CS.  Add to card front using Dimensionals.
8. Die cut Butterfly using Butterflies Thinlits and Big Shot/Magnetic Platform.  Add to card front using Dimensionals.  Add string of 3 pearls.

Let's Get Away and go-see-do

A good friend at work is moving to take a new job at a school in Munich and tomorrow night our office is celebrating her next life adventure. So of course I offered to make a farewell card for her!

Easier said than done and I have to confess I used a card I saw online as my inspiration. I knew I wanted to use the Project Life Let's Get Away stamp set as the images and phrases matched my creative inspiration so I matched that set up with Typeset Specialty designer series paper and made this card:

Another long weekend adventure

Last weekend I had four marvelous days in Munich, Germany and of course while there I took tons of photos for my next Project Life by Stampin' Up! pocket pages and while I am working on these pages I thought you'd like to see some of the photos on my trip. 

One of the most striking plazas is the Marienplatz and was the first stop on our walking tour:

One way to fix a stamping mistake

Yep. I make mistakes too. All the time actually and I usually figure out a way to fix my mistake so I don't have to throw out my card and start all over again. 

And recently I made another mistake on this Awesomely Artistic birthday card. Of course I noticed the smudge after the card was complete - aargh!

It took me a few short minutes to figure out what to do! I stamped the flower image on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla card stock and, using my Blender Pen and Delightful Dijon ink pad, I colored two of the flowers and cut out them out, then attached them using SNAIL adhesive:

 

And rather than try to hide my mistake (other than cover it up, hehe) I decided one last touch to make it look like this extra bit was planned:

 

Adding two tiny Basic Pearl Jewels was the crowning touch! So the next time you make a mistake, don't despair and throw it out - try my idea instead!

 

Go Wild and be Remarkable

Yesterday I had a box of new products arrive and couldn't wait to get home from work to play! I used two new products to make today's card idea using this Paper Craft Crew card map:

But when I chose the phrase I wanted to use, from the Remarkable You stamp set, I realized that my banners wouldn't fit in a vertical fashion - so turned them on their side instead. The circle image is from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set and I can see this set becoming one of my favorites in the catalog. 

Here's my card idea - the paper is from the Go Wild paper stack - such cool patterns in this pack!

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a Stampin' Up! event in Driven, Netherlands. Although I don't speak the language everyone was super friendly and helpful - even to the point of translating presentations when needed.

Today I have a fun baby card idea that features one of our new 2015-17 In Colors: Mint Macaron!

Supplies:

• Stamp Sets:  Something for Baby (W) #134027, (C) #134030; Bundle and Save 15% with Baby’s First Framelits Dies (W) #136790, (C) #136791; Something to Say (W) #134177, (C) #134180
• Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black #132708, Mint Macaron #138326
• Paper: Whisper White #100730, Mint Macaron #138337, Basic Gray #121044, 2015-2017 Envelope Paper #138312
• Other: Baby’s First Framelits Dies #133735 (15% Bundle Best Deal, see above), Mint Macaron 1” Dotted Lace Trim #138424, Large Oval Punch #119855, Scallop Oval Punch #119856, Stampin Dimensionals #104330, SNAIL adhesive #104332, Big Shot #113439

 

Measurements: 

• 5.5” x 8.5”  & scrap for sentiment frame of Mint Macaron cardstock
• 5.25” x 4” Basic Gray cardstock
• 5.25” x 2” Mint Macaron Envelope Paper
• 6.5” Mint Macaron 1” Dotted Lace Trip
• 3” square of Whisper White for Onesie, scrap for sentiment, 4”x 5.25” Whisper White card 

 

Instructions: 

1. Stamp the Safety Pin on the Basic Gray using black Memento ink on one of the 5.25” sides of cardstock (if you want it lighter, stamp off on scrap paper then stamp on the gray card).
2. Add the Mint Macaron envelope paper to the Basic Gray.
3. Add Snail adhesive to the back of the gray cardstock to adhere the ends of the ribbon to the back.
4. Stamp the “Onesie” on the white cardstock using the Mint Macaron stamp pad.
5. Cut the Onesie out using the Onesie framelit.  Add the Onesie to the card using Stampin Dimensionals.
6. Stamp the desired sentiment on scrap white cardstock using the black ink.  Punch out using Large Oval punch.
7. Punch out of scrap Mint Macaron using the Scallop Oval Punch.  Add sentiment to Mint Macaron scallop oval punch using Snail adhesive.  Add to the front of card using Stampin Dimensionals.
8. If desired stamp a sentiment on the Whisper White card stock and add to the inside of the Mint Macaron card.
9. Stamp the envelope with desired stamp.

And it occurred to me that I have never pointed those out so today is the day! The icons in our new catalog are there to help you make the most of your experience. 

Watch for the above icon in the catalog as you browse through - this icon indicates that there is a how-to video you won't want to miss! 
 

This one is not too hard to figure out but watch for it throughout the catalog too. This icon shows you lots of project ideas that are simple but great - perfect for a beginning stamper OR someone who loves to craft but is oh, so busy. 

This icon adds some notes to a project in case you wonder: how did they make that!
