Love Is Kindness, simple yet beautiful

The Love Is Kindness stamp set is so simple in nature but makes such beautiful cards - like this one:

 

 

And here's how you make it:

 

Supplies:

• Stamp Sets: Love is Kindness #137131 
• Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black Pad #132708, Versamark #102283
• Paper: Crumb Cake cardstock #21685, Very Vanilla cardstock #106550, Whisper White (scrap)
• Other: Typeset Specialty DSP #133704, Sahara Sand Lace Trim #137866, Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities # 131003, Old Olive Blendabilities #130999, Old Olive Taffeta Ribbon #119256

 

Measurement: 

• Crumb Cake card base 21cm x 14.5cm (scored at 10.5cm and folded) 
• Vanilla 5cm x 10.5cm
• Typeset DSP 5cm x 10cm
• Sahara Sand Lace Trim 10 cm
• Old Olive Taffeta Ribbon 10 cm

 

Instructions: 

 

1. Stamp the top of the flower image in Versamark ink around the edges of the card front. 
2. Stamp flower image (omitting sentiment) in Memento ink onto Vanilla panel. Position the image close to the bottom of the panel, to allow room for the tag topper punch. Optional: The Stamp-a-ma-jig will come in handy for perfect positioning of this wood-mount stamp. 
3. Colour flowers and stems with Blendabilities.  Punch top of tag with Scalloped Tag Topper punch. 
4. Stamp the newspaper part of the image in Memento Black on scrap of Whisper White. Trim close to the black line with paper snips, and adhere with Dimensionals over the newspaper on the tag. 
5. Flag the ends of the Typeset panel. Sponge edges of both the Typeset panel and Vanilla tag with Crumb Cake ink. Adhere the two tags and the length of Sahara Sand lace trim together as shown.
6. Adhere complete tag to base card. Create a bow with Old Olive ribbon and attach with a glue dot.

Masculine Birthday card

A new college at work discovered that I love to make cards and requested I make a birthday card for her son's birthday. She gave me a list of his likes but I didn't have stamps to match, or the know-how to make them so I asked for his favorite color. The answer? Red.

I decided to cruise through Pinterest for inspiration and found a masculine birthday card that gave me an idea to create this card - funny how my card looks nothing like my inspiration!

This card was easy to create. It is simply paper layers (Stacked with Love) and two circle framelits, along with one phrase (Because You Care hostess set), one star punch and one embossing folder.

I quite like how it turned out and hope my new friend's son does too.

This card took just minutes to make! All I did was layer the Happiness card onto Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White card stock then to the Crushed Curry card base. Then I added the Pumpkin Pie and Bermuda Bay triangles and two extra Crushed Curry strips to highlight the Happiness phrase in the middle.

Because You Care

Today I have a fun card map for you to try at home - it's one of my weekly Paper Craft Crew challenges!

First, here is the card map I used:

It didn't take me long to realize that I wanted to use my Because You Care hostess stamp set and Something Borrowed designer series paper on my card. And I had just ordered a new pack of Paper Doilies - perfect timing.

Here's the card I created:

 

And instead of the flower embellishments on the map I used my Itty Bitty Accents punch pack heart instead.

• Cardstock:  Coastal Cabana #131297,  Whisper White#100730, Best Year Ever Designer Paper Sale-a-bration #138633
• Big Shot: Large Polka Dot Textured Impressions Folder #133739
• Accessories: SNAI #104332L, Stampin’  Dimensionals #104430,  Whisper White Medium Envelopes #107301, Rhinestones Basic Jewel #119246, Paper-Piercing Tool #126189

Measurements:  

• Coastal Cabana card base: 4 ¼” x 11”, scored and  folded at 5 ½”
• Whisper White layers: 4” x 5 ¼” – need two
• Coastal Cabana vertical layer: 1 ½” x 4 ¾”- need one
• Best Year Ever paper vertical layer: 1 ¼: x 4 ½” – need one
• Coastal Cabana horizontal layer: 1 ½” x 3 ½” – need one
• Whisper White horizontal layer: 1 ¼” x 3 ¼”  - need one
• Best Year Ever paper strip for inside: ¾” x 4”  – need one
• Best Year Ever paper to line envelope: 3” x 6” –need one

Instructions:

1. Emboss front Whisper White layer with Large Polka Dot folder.  Adhere to front with SNAIL.
2. Adhere DSP vertical strip to Coastal Cabana vertical strip with SNAIL. Adhere to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
3. Stamp “Smile” from So You set with Coastal Cabana ink on Whisper White horizontal strip. Adhere to Coastal Cabana horizontal strip with SNAIL. Adhere to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals just on right side of the strip
4. Add largest Rhinestone Basic Jewel to dot the “I” in Smile using the Paper-Piercing Tool.
5. Stamp white inside layer with “it’s your birthday!” from Big News set and Coastal Cabana ink. 
6. Stamp stars from So You set with Coastal Cabana ink. Adhere stamped inside layer with SNAIL.
7. Adhere Best Year Ever DSP strip along bottom of inside layer with SNAIL.
8. Cut Best Year Ever DSP with Envelope liner die. Adhere inside envelope flap with a line of SNAIL along the top edge of liner, positioning the top edge of liner just below the glue line on the envelope flap.
9. Stamp Whisper White Envelope to match your card. Yippee! You are done!

A Fun Night Out With Friends

If you have been following me on my personal Facebook page you have likely seen all the adventures I have been involved in for the past year or so. I love to try new things, especially things that involve great food and fun friends. 

Just over a week ago some friends from work organized a cooking event at Capo Cucina here in The Hague. The restaurant was cozy and so welcoming and we had our choice to cook, taste or sit back and let our friends cook for us. 

Can you tell what my first choice was?

 

And I had some help!

The chef was amazing - patient, helpful and fun to be around. 

And the best part was a fun group to share the evening with:

 

The evening was fabulous and I have many wonderful memories to treasure.

Cheerful Critters Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day to all my blog followers!

This week a super fun new stamp set arrived in my latest order and I can't wait to introduce it to you:

Cheerful Critters!

Why say it yourself when a cheerful critter can say it for you? These Two-Step stamps give you so many creative options--combine individual stamps to build the final image you want in the colors you want.

Here's my first card (A Valentine perhaps?) using Cheerful Critters and the Stacked with Love paper stack:

I used my Square framelits to cut a window in the Stacked with Love paper and then angled it to look like a stage. I didn't attach the paper until after I had stamped the image and colored it but I did use the back side of the window held in place on the Whisper White card stock to ensure perfect placement of the image when stamping. Plus with Photopolymer, it's hard to go wrong!
