Sweet Sorbet Card Map

Today I have a fun Card Map to share with you. I use card maps often to help me try new designs, layouts and sometimes just simply for inspiration. 

Here's the map I used today:

Super cute, right? I decided right away to try this map to make a Lacy & Lovely card and to use some of my Sweet Sorbet designer series paper:

Do you see how I used the scalloped paper for the scallop border on the map? If you don't have a punch to use try to find a paper design that works instead!

Word Traveler Digital Scrapbook

The past two weeks have given me a whole new set of photos to scrapbook in my World Traveler Digital Scrapbook. I flew to Singapore for 10 days for my work and had a marvelous experience there. And of course I had to add a scrapbook page featuring some of my favorite Singapore moments:

The World Traveler Digital Scrapbook comes as a kit so all the pages are laid out as templates, complete with photo and journal boxes. You can either keep them as is and drag and drop your photos in or you can resize, add or delete photo boxes and embellishments as you wish. On this page I simply added the red stars at the bottom and the airplane on the left and then added my journaling to complete my page.

From the Heart - Random Acts of Kindness

One of the first things I did when I moved to the Netherlands for 2014 was contact some local Stampin' Up! demonstrators to see if they have events I could attend. Interestingly, Stampin' Up! is not well known over here (gasp!) and a lot of people I have talked to at work don't even do any kind of crafting. 

I did manage to connect with Carmen and although we haven't gotten together to play, we have plans to do so in the near future. At one point through our email conversations, Carmen asked for my address which I supplied without a thought as I simply thought she wanted to know the area of town I live in. 

Nope! Look what arrived in the mail! A From My Heart welcome card from a fellow demonstrator - how sweet is that!

 

 

I was so surprised and pleased that Carmen took the time to make and send me a card. I have it displayed on my living room sideboard to show everyone who drops by for a visit. 

And you know what else I realized? We all need to do more RAKs (random acts of kindness) for others and it is such a great feeling to know that somebody out there is thinking about you. So I challenge each of you who read this blog post today - grab  your Stampin' Up! products and take the time to make a card for someone who least expects to hear from you!

Geometrical Hello

While surfing through a pile of emails a couple of days ago I saw a card created by another demonstrator that caught my eye. I saved it to my desktop and when I had a bit of free time I created my own Geometrical version using Mary's card as a map.  Mary created a square card and using different colors for her card, but the basic layout is quite the same:

To create the "hi" phrase I grabbed my Big Shot and Circle Card Thinlits, then added a Basic Jewel to "dot" the i. And the card was done!

Sweet Sorbet

Today I have another guest artist card to share with you, created by Fadette:

Foudette used one of my cards as inspiration for her own seen here. The Sweet Sorbet paper adds  a soft background of interest and using coordinating marker colors for the Geometrical stamp set phrase, along with the Whisper White bow pulls the card together nicely.

This card layout could be considered clean and simple. Want an idea to bump it up a notch? Take the Pool Party layer and emboss it with your Big Shot and favorite embossing folder.

Retro Fresh Zoo Babies

This week I announced that I would be featuring some cards made by some brand new stampers who were recently introduced to Stampin' Up!

Anna created this Zoo Babies card from scratch.

She liked the Retro Fresh designer series paper and so started with that. She knew she wanted the "DSP" for a layer on the card front then used my Big Shot and Adorning Accents and Deco Labels  framelits for the image layer.

Anna is a natural in my opinion: she used one clear block for all three stamps so she could get them stamped in a row. I think her card is super cute - doesn't it make you want to open it up so see what's inside?

Why not try Anna's card as a map for your next card creation? Start with your favorite DSP and then go from there. Guest Artists

Last week I had three friends over who have never stamped before <shock> - in fact they had never heard of Stampin' Up! either! Two of my friends had seen cards I had made and brought into the office and asked if they could come over and play.

So we arranged a date and I introduced them to Stampin' Up! and stamping cards. I had forgotten how much fun it is to share what I love with others. And that's what Stampin' Up!s statement of the heart is all about:

To love what we do and share what we love, as we help others enjoy creativity and worthwhile accomplishments . . . in this we make a difference!

I was so impressed with the cards my new friends made during our time together that I asked if they would be willing to be Guest Artists on my blog. I think they were surprised but all agreed so over the next few days I am going to share what they created. 

So let's start off with a card made by Cloudette. She has a wedding shower to attend soon so she used Love and Laughter (my go-to stamp set for all weddings, showers, and anniversaries):

 

This is a clean and simple layout with a tiny touch of bling on the dress for an added touch of interest.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today I have such an easy project to share with you - a St. Patrick's Day sign I created using My Digital Studio!

Here's how I created my sign:

First, I chose a 8 1/2 x 11 scrapbook page and colored it Garden Green - or you could use Wild Wasabi  or Old Olive

Next I added a Whisper White box and resized it to be slightly smaller than the Garden Green background layer

Then I added words from the Lucky Frameable stamp set

Each word I arranged on the page as I desired

When done, I simply printed it out.

To complete your project find a frame that you love and pop your My Digital Studio sign inside!
