Card Maps

It has been a while since I have posted a Card Map to share with you. Last week I spotted a demonstrator card map challenge and I loved the map for this challenge:

Happy Watercolor Card

Did you know that I don't particuluarly enjoy coloring with crayons, markers or watercolor tools either? I think it's because I am always on the go, busy, busy, busy and I just don't take the time to sit and enjoy coloring.

If you are like me, I have found the perfect solution. As a matter of a fact I didn't believe it until I tried the Happy Watercolor stamp set! This set is so neat because it has three stamps that look like watercoloring but isn't!

Here's a recent sample I made using Happy Watercolor:

See the background colors? Looks like I did something artistic like a color wash, but nope! It is a stamp!!! Ink and stamp in three different colors, add the black flower with a touch of Dazzling Diamonds glitter in the center, stamp and punch the phrase, layer it and your card is ready to assemble and mail. Easy!

My Digital Studio Valentine Sign

My Digital Studio is great for making paper projects other than scrapbook pages and cards. It is also great for making signs - like this My Digital StudioValentine Sign:

I printed out the sign on my printer and found the perfect frame to put it in.

And here's what it looks like in a frame:

It looks like I cut out three different heart shapes but I didn't. I used My Digital Studio to create the heart layers too. The fun part of making signs is I can use the same frame for all different seasons and occasions - it depends on how I want to use My Digital Studio and the sign I want to make.

Retro Fresh This & That Journal

Last week I told you that I made a resolution to begin a brand new Retro Fresh This & That Journal to keep track of my adventures in The Hague (and beyond!).

Smash book journaling is a new concept for me and this resolution has been harder than I thought. I have added momentos but my pages weren't popping like I had hoped. 

This past weekend I was invited to go out for dinner - a unique dinner actually. It was sponsored by the Youth Food Movement whose purpose was "slow food", the opposite of fast food. This particular dinner focused on root vegetables, some that are not very popular anymore. The dinner was fabulous (five courses) and at the end of the evening we were given a goodie bag with a root vegetable inside along with a recipe for how to use it.

The perfect This & That opportunity! I took the recipe and some of the table notes and created this page in my journal:

I think the key is to use bits and pieces on each page and I popped them up using Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I translated the recipe and wrote in my own handwriting on a scrap piece of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock.

This & That Journal

When I first moved to the Netherlands I decided to start a brand new This & That Journal to hold mementos, moments and fun thoughts about my adventures in a new country. I have a few pages started but am not quite ready to share them to the world yet but I wanted to show you how cool these journals are and how much fun they can be to create. 

The photo below was created by a Stampin' Up! concept artist and thought I would share it with you along with a description on how to create them:

Instructions

1. For the first page, attach the journaling tags using washi tape. Adhere the designer stickers and the photos and add journaling using the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.
2. For the second page, fold the page lengthwise in half. Secure the bottom of page with a piece of washi tape. Secure the top of the page with a clip.
3. Stamp "Like" in Jet Black StazOn ink on the page tab and adhere to the edge of the folded second page.
4. Add journaling to the journaling tag; adhere the journaling tag to the second page with the clip and the designer sticker.
5. For the back of the second page, add journaling; adhere the designer stickers and strips of the washi tape.
6. For the third page, adhere the cutouts and the designer stickers; add journaling.
