The state of North Carolina is having a sales tax holiday for school supplies up to $100 per item from August 2-4. Because school supply items are included in this sales tax holiday, the list of items below will be state tax-free during the holiday period, making this coming weekend the perfect time to stock up on your crafting basics!

Color Challenges

In the past few weeks I have had a ton of fun posting weekly Color Challenges on my Facebook Business page. All my fans there love these challenges and I thought you might like to join in as well this week.

My Digital Studio Photobook Template

I know I have shared a lot about the fun I had at Stampin' Up!s Convention last week and wrote a blog post about the Photobook Template I downloaded to use with My Digital Studio. I love this template because of its ease of use. It features 8x8 pages and has photoboxes and embellishments set on each page. All I have to do is drag and drop my photos into the boxes and add my journaling. 

Today I want to show you one of the completed pages using the Convention Photobook Template and a couple of my favorite photos from the event.

You might be wondering - can I add more elements and stamps to the pages in a photobook template? Absolutely! You can add as much as you want or delete elements on the page templates and replace them with others you prefer - from the template or from other sets and embellishments in My Digital Studio.

Anything but a Card Club meets Tag It

My Anything but a Card Club met this week and I had a blast creating three different projects for them to make at our club meeting. Here's one of the projects the club members made, using the new Tag It stamp set:

Super cute, right? I used the new Tag-a-Bag Gift Bags, along with the Tag It stamp set (page 45 and has corresponding Chalk Talk Framelits!) to make this 3D project. It was quick and easy to create and everyone in the club LOVED this idea! While they crafted the club members chatted about the different ways they could use the Tag-a-Bag Gift bags in the coming months. 

I really enjoy this club as it takes my crafting to a whole new level - not cards or scrapbook pages, which I love to create, but this club stretches my creativity in a different direction. I think the reason I love this club is that I can show the members a new way to use the same products they have already purchased from me so they get more value for their dollar.

This club meets every second month and we are always looking for members who, like me, want to take their crafting to a new level. If you want to know more about the Anything but a Card Club and our upcoming club meeting dates, email me!

Ronald McDonald House meets Zoo Babies

At Convention last week I co-hosted a 3x3 full card swap with 48 other demonstrators. The swap cards I received were wonderful and I have plans to use most of them in the coming year. One swap card, using Zoo Babies, caught my eye:

 

I loved the bright colors and stamp set that was used to decided to adapt this idea for my Chapel Hill Ronald McDonald House card Monday night. I decided to make a full card instead of a 3x3 as most of the families staying at the house like a card they can write in and mail. 

It was particularly exciting to go to Ronald McDonald House on Monday as I had an announcement to share with the house manager: Stampin' Up! is now a GLOBAL sponsor of Ronald McDonald House! They are hoping to match demonstrators to the global house to help make a difference in the lives of many more families!

I used the "Hello" phrase from the Label  Something stamp set, with a strip of scrap Basic Black cardstock underneath. 

 

 

Stampin' Up! 25th Anniversary Convention

Oh my gosh, this year's Stampin' Up! 25th Anniversary Convention was a BLAST! My head is still spinning from all the events, samples and fun. 

I had a couple of very special moments at Convention this year. The first was to walk across stage for earning the Getaway trip (all expenses paid for two!) to San Diego this fall. And the second was to walk across stage to celebrate a milestone: ten years as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator (with my friends Laurie and Tamie)!

 

My, has time flown by. When I first joined Stampin' Up! it was just as a hobby demonstrator to get the permanent discount on all the products I wanted to purchase. I chuckle remembering my resistance to demonstrating at a workshop (my school secretary insisted she be my first party) and again when one of my club members insisted she join my team (I even suggested she sign up under someone else - gasp!). 

But I overcame my shyness and fear and kept looking forward and it has certainly paid off. I have met so many women across the US who I can say are my true friends. I have learned so many new crafting ideas to take my passion (uh, stamping passion that is!) to a new level. I have traveled across the US and to Fiji! And I have developed myself personally and professionally.

Perfect Blend Upline Gifts

I have so many people to thank for supporting me with my Stampin' Up! business, especially my uplines. When I first joined I did so just to get the discount because I LOVED stamping. Funny, but I had a few people talk me into doing a party for them and, well the rest is history. 

The demonstrator I originally signed up under is no longer a demonstrator but I have received tremendous support from two other demonstrators above her and so for Convention I made them a special thank you gift, using my Perfect Blend stamp set. 

Here's the outside of the card. I used my Square Lattice embossing folder and brand new Baked Brown Sugar 3/8" Ruffle Stretch trim ribbon:

 

And here's the inside of my card. I was going to create a special pocket and then thought why do that when Starbucks provided a little case for me! So I grabbed my Sticky Strip and taped the case inside my card.

Fun at Convention!

Today is the first official day of Convention and I am so excited to pick up my Convention bag, free stamp sets (four of them!), and take a free tour of the home office in Riverton. I promise to take a ton of photos to share with you on my Facebook business page but for today I have some fun photos of a tour I took yesterday.

I am very lucky to be on an amazing team of demonstrators. This year I earned a special tour from one of my uplines before Convention began - a tour of the Great Salt Lake. Jan hired two tour buses to pick us up and take us over to the Lake. I learned so many interesting facts about the history of the lake and how it came to be.

We were also given time to swim in the lake which, I confess, I just couldn't do. It's not that I didn't try, but the sulphur smell from the shoreline seriously upset my stomach (it's a strong sense of smell thing) and I had to pass and wander around the marina and watch the zillions of sea monkeys swimming around.

Next year when I come to Convention I want to take a tour over to Antelope Island and learn more about this area.
