Sundays with Sizzix: Needlepoint Border embossing folder

Happy Easter everyone! Today I have a really fun and very easy to create Easter card using my Big Shot and Needlepoint Border embossing folder. The best part is that I created the entire layer using My Digital Studio!

I recently saw a completely different card that was created using My Digital Studio and that gave me the idea to create today's card. I created the entire layer using My Digital Studio, printed it on my home printer, trimmed it using my Paper Trimmer and then embossed it using my Big Shot:

Online Class

Last night was the first opportunity I had to play with Stampin' Up!s new Online Class. Wow, this is an amazing value!

This card was created as part of my March team meeting swap. Taimara stamped and embossed the words and used the Spring Catalog Hearts a Flutter framelits to highlight each word. Super cute!

Did you know we have Spanish, French and German stamps?

Mais oui, por supuesto, we sure do! I work at an elementary school and last week our two Spanish teachers did something really nice for me and so I wanted to make them each a thank you card.

Last year I had purchased Embellished Events, on page 40 in the Annual catalog, in Spanish (called Bellos Eventos) so pulled that out to make this card:

It was so much fun making a matching envelope to go with the card! All I did was cut a piece of left over Floral District designer series paper that was the length and width of the envelope flap, adhere it on and trim the edges. Super cute, right?

Delicate Details Lace Tape

I love the Delicate Details Lace Tape on page 3 Spring Catalog! Shall I confess that I have had this products for a couple of months but just unwrapped it this past weekend?

I wanted my team to play with the Delicate Details Lace Tape at my March team meeting, which meant I needed to get using it too! My team members ended up using it on each of their three make-n-takes. One card I have already shared with you on my Facebook Business page so if you have "liked" me there you will have seen it.

My Digital Studio Project 52

Wow, it has been a long time since I shared a Project 52 page but I am still going strong on this idea using My Digital Studio to create each page for my album.

For those of you who may not know what Project 52 is, I got the idea a couple of years ago from another Stampin' Up! demonstrator. The idea is to create a scrapbook page a week for an entire year so you end up with an annual album of moments to remember. But the interesting part of a Project 52 album: is it not the big things that happen to you in a year, it's the little things - the ones you'll forget years down the road but wish you hadn't. 

Here's a moment in time that happened to me back in January (yes I am behind in my scrapbooking too!) - when I was leaving The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to take the bus back to my hotel, I popped into one last store:

What will I remember the most about my trip to this theme park? The roller coasters. But this was such a neat store I snapped a couple of photos and quickly toured the store before running to catch my bus. What a cool place and look at all those bright colors. I wish I loved sweets!

Spring Sampler Easter Card

At this past weekend's Raleigh Techniques club our lovely hostess Jan requested that one of the cards be an Easter Card so of course I thought immediately of the Spring Sampler stamp set. It has so many cute images that are perfect for cards, scrapbook pages, box decorations and many other uses. 

And here's the card I created for the club members to make:

Now this may look like an ordinary card but ....nope! See where the "Happy Easter" phrase is on the card front? That's the actual opening and the polka dot paper is on the inside of the card! I learned this fun card technique from one of my downline. Kristin invented this idea on a completely different project and I adapted her idea here.

The phrase (from the Wacky Wishes hostess set) uses two Stampin' Dimensionals stacked on top of each other and is only attached to the card on the right hand side - to the polka dot paper. The left side of the phrase is not attached to the card at all and it holds the "egg" piece closed. You gently lift on the left side of the phrase to open up the card! 

Jan loved the idea and I have a feeling the club members are going to make lots of cards like this one using the Spring Sampler stamp set for lots of different occasion cards.

Happy St Patrick's Day (yesterday)!

Happy St. Patrick's Day yesterday to all my Irish friends out there in the stamping world. I didn't want you to think I had forgotten about you but I couldn't miss out on my Sundays with Sizzix post either. 

I thought I would share an Irish Soda Bread recipe from the Barefoot Contess on the Food Network website. Have some fun today making the Soda Bread and then give it away as a gift to a neighbor or friend!

4 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for currants
4 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch dice
1 3/4 cups cold buttermilk, shaken
1 extra-large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
1 cup dried currants
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.

Combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Add the butter and mix on low speed until the butter is mixed into the flour.

With a fork, lightly beat the buttermilk, egg, and orange zest together in a measuring cup. With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture. Combine the currants with 1 tablespoon of flour and mix into the dough. It will be very wet.

Dump the dough onto a well-floured board and knead it a few times into a round loaf. Place the loaf on the prepared sheet pan and lightly cut an X into the top of the bread with a serrated knife. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean. When you tap the loaf, it will have a hollow sound.

Cool on a baking rack. And while it cools, you can make a fun card to go with your gift bread!
