Betsy's Blossoms

Here's another brand new stamp set that my handsome man in brown dropped off yesterday - it's called Betsy's Blossoms!

This set has some really amazing images in it - ones I would not normally put together but when you see them together they seem to fit so well. And see that large flower image? Recognize the red tone? Hmmm, I wonder what that color might be called - hint: it's one of the FIVE new In Colors! (Sorry, you are going to have to come to my New Catalog Open House to see the other four, hehe)

 

With the new Annual Catalog Stampin' Up! has introduced firm foam pads that will change your stamping experience for the better! Stay tuned for a special announcement about the benefits of these new pads -- still in the same wonderful colors-- coming soon. The Raspberry Ripple (ooops, who said that!) image on my Betsy's Blossoms card above was a breeze to ink up around the entire stamp in just one bit of pressure.

Heart to Heart Punch

This weekend I wanted to make a thank you gift for a group of volunteers who will be coming to my school to help groups of students through their end of grade exams. Since there is going to be a large number of volunteers I had to keep the cost effective for me as well. 

I came up with a brilliant (if I say so myself) idea using my Heart to Heart Punch  - one that is colorful, fun and useful:

This project requires only a few products and is great for using up scraps of card stock and here's how to create one at home:

1. Purchase the colorful nail files at your local bed and bath store (my cost was $1 each)

2. Purchase (from me!) the 1 x 8" cello bags - a perfect fit for the nai lfiles, 

3. Insert the nailfile into the cello bag, fold over top of cello bag and seal to close (they are self sealing).

4. Cut your card stock topper - each one is 3" x 1 1/2", scored and folded in half. 

5. Fold your bag topper over top of cello bag and staple shut. 

6. Punch one Scallop Square from Whisper White card stock for each topper.

7. Use your Heart to Heart punch to punch one large Tangerine Tango heart and one small Melon Mambo heart. Adhere to Scallop Square.

8. Adhere Whisper White Scallop Square layer to front of bag topper. 

9. (Optional) To cover up the staple on the back of the topper I added a second punched Scallop Square. I first stamped a Melon Mambo "thanks thanks thanks" image from Pretty Postage stamp set, punched it out using the Scallop Square punch and then adhered the layer over the staple on the back.

Easy, right? And I know I would love to get a thank you gift like this so I can't wait to hear what my volunteers say this week!

Scrapbook Map Challenge

Yesterday I posted a card map challenge and a digital card I created to go with it. Today I took on a Scrapbook Map Challenge:

The layout really appeals to me so I decided to give it a go using My Digital Studio. Did you know that every Tuesday Stampin' Up! unveils brand new digital downloads and that you can use these downloads for My Digital Studio but also for any other digital program you may own?

I had recently downloaded a brush stamp set called Epic Overlays that has that cool splash image that you see on the page above. Epic Overlays has several really cool images as part of that set that I am sure you will see on my future pages!

Card Map Challenge

Yesterday a demonstrator-only group I belong to hosted a chat & challenge and unfortuntately I had to miss the fun. But I did download the Card Map Challenge and noted that it was created with My Digital Studio. 

Here's the card map:

Isn't that beautiful? I was going to bring out a bunch of my card stock and accessories but have things laid out for my Techniques Club this weekend and tend to make a bit of a mess when creating. So I decided to make a digital card instead! 

I didn't have the same digital sets and accessories as you see in the challenge above. They are additional downloads that were purchased and added to the challenger's My Digital Studio program. (Did you know that Stampin' Up! adds several new downloads every Tuesday for us to purchase?) So like you would with paper crafting I used what you I have.

Here's my answer to the Card Map Challenge:

 

I used three punches, some designer series paper, plain card stock, a brush stamp set and an embellishment down the middle.

Techniques Club

This weekend my Raleigh Techniques Club meets for their May club meeting. I am so excited to see them again as I have two cool techniques to share.

One of the techniques is called a Matchbook and I learned this technique from the monthly Stampin' Success magazine that Stampin' Up! mails to their demonstrators each month. Here's the matchbook card the club members will create:

 

 

I used the Clearly For You stamp set, Scallop Edge Border punch, and Glimmer Brads to create this beautiful card. The fun part about this technique is the different sized Matchbooks you can create using different card stock measurements along with what you can put inside the Matchbook.

Stamps in the Mail Club

This month I decided to offer two different stamp set choices for my May Stamps in the Mail Club: C is for Cat and D is for Dog. These sets have a wide appeal - not only for pet lovers but for stampers who want to make all occasion and masculine cards.

One of the benefits about joining my Stamps in the Mail Club is receiving three completely finished different card sample ideas for using the featured stamp set. 

Here's one of the cards that I created for the D is for Dog:

This is a Clean and Simple design and I chose the colors from the Color Coach. I don't think I would have naturally picked these three colors on my own but really like how they look together - which is why they are on the Color Coach in the first place, right?

I stamped and cut out the dog and then adhered only the middle part of the stamped image to the Old Olive layer to give him a feeling of movement. I used some Dazzling Details on his collar for a bit of subtle bling.

National Scrapbook Day

Happy National Scrapbook Day! Today is the time to dust off those scrapbooks, dig out those photos and take some time to preserve those special memories seen in your photos. Today might also be the day to give digital scrapbooking a try by downloading My Digital Studio Express for FREE and subscribing to me free video tutorials to learn the program basics.

Mystery Stamp Set

Today I want to show you another project that was inside Connie's surprise package in the mail. I know you will recognize the Big Shot Vintage Wallpaper textured impressions embossing folder and Antique Brad embellishment but...

what is the stamp set that the flowers come from? I have looked through the Idea Book & Catalog and can't figure it out. I love the layout and use of the Basic Pearls on the flower but am stymied as to which set it is.

Remember the other day when I mentioned getting a HUGE package in the mail? Here's a second project that came out of that package - with a delicious odor attached:
