I think I have shared before about my love for card maps and how easy they are to use to create a card totally different than my usual designs. Tonight I entered a "chat and challenge" for Stampin' Up! demonstrators through a yahoogroup I joined a while back. The leader of the chat and challenge uploads a card map for us to play with and basically we chat online while we create a card to match the challenge! I wish I could upload the map for you to follow along at home but I was unable. Maybe you can visualize the map from my card?
This card features Lovely as a Tree, Best Yet and Urban Garden designer series paper with two vintage brads and a dash of Basic Gray Taffeta ribbon tossed into the mix!
Tonight I am off to Chapel Hill, NC to volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. I have been doing this for two years now and I do it because it is my chance to give back to my surrounding community. The families at the house change each month (or sometimes, sadly, they are still there) but they love to come down to the kitchen and make cards and envelopes for friends and family and I love to sit and chat with them while they create. Sometimes the family has older children, sometimes younger, so I try to design a card that is easy for all to make.
Stampin' Up! is one of the corporate sponsors of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Each time Stampin' Up! holds a Regional workshop or the Annual Convention, the demonstrators attending create one of the make-n-take cards to be donated to RMHC. And in each Idea Book and Catalog, there is a stamp set designated for RMHC; $2 from the sale of each stamp set is donated to this worthy cause.
Here's the card the house residents will be making tonight:
If you want to support Ronald McDonald House please contact me or order Say it with Scallops online. Or check out the inside back cover of the Fall/Winter Idea book and catalog for more information. You, too, can make a difference!
Can you tell by now that I love, love, LOVE the Top Note Bigz die? It is so versatile. I have many more ideas for this die so you are just going to have patience with me in the coming weeks. Today's sample is a "Criss Cross" birthday card which my card club learned how to make last year. It also features the Green Tea designer series paper and round tab punch. How cute is that!
If you want to learn how to create really unique cards to wow your friends and family, contact me to join a Card Club! I have a new club starting in October.
Do you LOVE Hallowe'en and all the excitement that goes with it? Then you are going to go crazy for the brand new Spooky Spider decor element! Tomorrow is the first meeting of my Scrapbook Club. This club is sort of like a hostess club or a Stampers 10 club or my Card Club except the entire focus each time we meet is to create scrapbook pages. At each club meeting one member is the hostess and earns free stamp sets and accessories and the minimum purchase each month for the club members is only $15. When I design a page I try to use stamp sets and accessories that can also be used for making cards or paper crafting projects so that my customers get the best value for their dollar.
Here's one of the pages the Scrapbook club will be making tomorrow at our meeting. There are two spots open so please contact me if you'd like to join us in October!
Laurie had a party at work this week and requested that her co-workers and friends make Christmas projects. We made two Holiday cards and for the the third project I decided they would make a 3-D project. I designed a post-it note holder using Punch Pals, Riding Hood Red and the new Riding Hood Red striped ribbon. This was easy to create but will make a nice inexpensive but cute gift during the holiday season.
It is never too early to start thinking about making my holiday cards! Here's one I made this past weekend:
What? You haven't seen this stamp set before? Well you will soon, I promise! If you are on my mailing list, watch your mailboxes in the coming few days for the Holiday mini catalog. This set, called Scandinavian Season, is one of many new stamp sets to be introduced along with the awesome coordinating wheel and designer series paper!
As I am from Scandinavian descent I couldn't resist this stamp set and will be using it at my upcoming classes and for my holiday cards this year. Watch my calendar of events for classes and camps so you can create with this stamp set too! And if you want to be on my mailing list to receive the mini catalogs, please contact me at [email protected].
Would you like to get a huge jump start on your holiday cards this year? I am having a Holiday card Stamp-a-Stack this Saturday from 2:00 - 4:30 pm. Come and make 15 holiday cards with decorated envelopes for only $25! I have designed 5 different cards and you will make three of each and create matching envelopes too. At the end of the day you may just know exactly what you want to make for the rest of your holiday cards this year, and have an example to follow at home.
Here's one of the cards you will be making - it has glitter all around the edge of the tree layer and looks beautiful in real life. Simple yet elegant!
Click the Pay Now button above to reserve your spot. Only 10 seats available!
What do you get when you put four Scallop Envelopes together? Why, a Scallop Envelope Box of course!
Add a dash of Bella Rose designer series paper, Riding Hood Red ribbon, a couple of stamped flowers and a greeting stamp and you have created a cute box to hold.......well........anything you want! This box contains a candle in a jar with a rub-on added to the lid. Stinkin' cute!
Would you like to learn how to use the Sizzix Big Shot to make cute 3-D items like this box? Join my Anything but a Card Club. Contact me today at [email protected] for more information.
As demonstrators, we have the advantage of being able to preorder mini catalog stamp sets and accessories to create samples to share with you. When I got home from work today, there was a UPS box sitting on my front door step. I am sure you can imagine the excitement that caused!
Yes, it was my Holiday mini catalog preorder. But before you being fretting, you should know that the Holiday mini catalogs are being mailed to you this week (if you are on my mailing program) and this new mini is going to drive you crazy! It features several new stamp sets, awesome new Designer Series papers and has an entire section dedicated to the Big Shot. Thirty-two pages of deeeelicious!
As soon as I saw Season of Friendship I knew immediately it was the stamp set for me! It is so versatile and matches every season. Tonight at my fun Raleigh Meetup I had a chance to create this card. It also features the brand new Alpine ribbon. Yum!
I will be featuring this stamp set at my card club and upcoming classes. Check out my calendar of events for more information.
There are so many uses for the Top Note die - cello bag topper, mini card, journaling box on a scrapbook page or a card layer. This week's sample is showing how a Top Note die can be used as card layer with a little sponging around the edges to better blend the layer into its background. Some of you have asked what I do inside when the main card stock color is not white. On this sample I added a Whisper White layer inside the card and stamped a corresponding image. Adds a little pizzaz, don't you think?
At my Card Club last night, the club members learned a new technique called Shadow stamping. It requires a White Craft pad and the Stamp-a-ma-jig, which is a stamp positioner. The card they created uses one of my favorite new catalog stamp sets - Inspired by Nature - along with Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip card stock. The card was pretty easy to create but packs a real "wow" response.
Here's the card they made:
Would you like to learn techniques like Shadow stamping to wow your friends and family? Well then, contact me to join my club!

Congraulations to Laura who wins four hand-stamped cards using Organic Grace. Laura voted in the poll and then let me know, through the comment section below the post.
Let's move on to the Level Two Hostess stamp sets! Vote in my brand new poll found on the right-hand sidebar of this blog. Then add a comment to the Comment section under this posting and you could win four hand-stamped cards using the most popular level two hostess stamp set!
