This week a colleague at work commissioned me to create a good-bye card for a special person in their department. The challenge for me is that this colleague is a man and the card needed to be large enough for several messages and signatures.
So I put my thinking cap on and decided that even though the Stampin' Up! Going Places product suite is now retired it would still be perfect for this card as we all work for an international company and that would be my card theme!
So instead of making the usual card size, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2", I made my Delightful Dijon card base an entire piece of card stock: 8 1/2 x 11", folded in half.
Then it was design time. I knew that a piece of Going Global paper was 6" square so a full sheet would not cover the card front. But I could trim a piece at an angle and adhere it to the top of the card. Then for the bottom I dry-embossed a piece of Very Vanilla card stock using the World Traveler embossing folder, then cut it at a matching angle for the bottom part of the card. Add the stamped and die-cut circles and the phrase banner (from the One Big Meaning stamp set) and voila, a masculine good-bye card!
I love hearing from you, please post your comments under this blog post!
I did not design anything for the inside of the card as it will fill up quickly with messages and signatures but I did stamp the envelope to match:
All in all I am very pleased with how my card turned out!
