Sundays with Sizzix

When I was at Convention our RemARKbles team (we have the same upline a few levels up from us) decided to meet for dinner and have a fun evening together. After dinner, in groups of 10, we participated in a shoebox swap. A shoebox swap is like when you come to my clubs or classes; everything is cut and ready to assemble. Our card pieces were in shoeboxes for easy suitcase travel. We each got to make a card from a shoebox and then pass the shoeboxes on to person sitting to our right.

One of the cards I made at this swap really left a lasting impression so I decided to use the idea and create a card to share with you today. It uses the Big Shot BIGZ Scallop Circle die and, which is unusual for me, has no stamping on the card at all!

Here's the card:

Scallop Circle Dress Card

Card stock: Whisper White (4 1/4 x 5 1/2"), Tea Party designer series paper #113992 (1 x 5 1/2", 5 x 5"), So Saffron (scraps)

Ink: Pretty in Pink Classic pad

Accessories: sponge, Big Shot, Standard Cutting plates, BIGZ Scallop Circle, Trio Flower punch #109183, Soft Subtle brads, Scallop Edge punch #112091, Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon (2 pieces, each 2" long). Paper piercing tool and pad

Instructions

2. Stamp "Happy Bearthday" in Jet Black StazOn ink on checkered Pawsitively Prints Designer Series paper.
3. Stamp girl bear image in Jet Black StazOn ink on watercolor paper. Watercolor image using Watercolor Pencils and blender pen. Cut out image and adhere to card using Stampin' Dimensionals. Stamp second girl bear image in Jet Black StazOn ink on watercolor paper. Watercolor balloon image using Watercolor Pencils and blender pen and cut out. Adhere to original balloon image using Stampin' Dimensionals.
4. Pierce row of holes above Pawsitively Prints Designer Series paper using paper-piercing tool.

Holiday Style Card Map

I know you know that I love card maps and get instant inspiration from them! I saw this card map on a website today and had a great time creating a Dasher card.

First, the map:

Yes it was a bit overwhelming when I saw all the layers. First, I decided that that long strip #3 would be designer series paper and the other layers would be coordinating colors. Next, I decided the top layer #5 would be Dasher as I wanted him in the forefront. I really had to think about layer #2 and then it hit me - use ribbon instead of card stock.

Here's my card:

Dormant List

When Stampin' Up! came out with the 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog in July, there were so many older stamp sets they wanted to include but couldn't because they were limited by the number of pages in the catalog itself. So they published a "Dormant List" of stamp sets and wheels that would be available during the same sales period but not show in the catalog at all.

The list below will show you the Dormant Stamp Set and Wheel list. You can still order these items, but you had better do so soon as there is no guarantee that they will ever reappear after this catalog year is over.

Team Stamp Camp

One fun part of being on my All About Stamping team of demonstrators is our quarterly team Stamp Camp. This is free for my team (and their teams) to attend and they love to network with each other while they create some projects to share with their customers or just to have in their sample box. This time is totally creative and agenda free - many times these demonstrators are excited to share what they have created at home and we all (myself included) learn some great ideas from these shared projects.

This is one of the cards I created for our August meeting. It was one of the four stamp sets I got for attending Convention and is so fun to create with.

Sundays with Sizzix

When Stampin' Up! came out with their exclusive Sizzlit dies, I had to do some research on them and learn how to use them with the Big Shot. These particular dies measure 2.25 x 2.50, making storage a breeze, and they cut through single layers of card stock and designer series paper.

A month ago I was chosen for a prize from my upline and won the Sizzlit die called Many Thanks. I wasn't quite sure how to use it so decided that today was the day. I decided to create a Thanksgiving type card, although it certainly could be used as a generic "thank you" card as well.

Here's the card I created. I love the Autumn Days stamp set for its versatility, don't you?

Techniques Club Card

Last night was the first meeting of my techniques club. The club members had a great time meeting some new stamping friends while learning a technique called Emerging Color. After the evening was over each member took home a technique card on a ring and three samples using the techniqe. Ruth was our lovely hostess for the evening and she will also earn hostess stamp sets and awards as a bonus.

Here's one of the cards the members created:

I created this card using Barely Banana, Lavender Lace, and Elegant Eggplant. The stamped images were from Teeny Tiny WIshes, Eastern Blooms, and Petal Pizzazz. The best part is the texture of the top layer - you have to feel it for the "wow" factor. And as for the technique?
