Lovely as a Tree

I think I have shared before about my love for card maps and how easy they are to use to create a card totally different than my usual designs. Tonight I entered a "chat and challenge" for Stampin' Up! demonstrators through a yahoogroup I joined a while back. The leader of the chat and challenge uploads a card map for us to play with and basically we chat online while we create a card to match the challenge! I wish I could upload the map for you to follow along at home but I was unable. Maybe you can visualize the map from my card?

 

This card features Lovely as a Tree, Best Yet and Urban Garden designer series paper with two vintage brads and a dash of Basic Gray Taffeta ribbon tossed into the mix!

Ronald McDonald House Charities

Tonight I am off to Chapel Hill, NC to volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. I have been doing this for two years now and I do it because it is my chance to give back to my surrounding community. The families at the house change each month (or sometimes, sadly, they are still there) but they love to come down to the kitchen and make cards and envelopes for friends and family and I love to sit and chat with them while they create. Sometimes the family has older children, sometimes younger, so I try to design a card that is easy for all to make.

Stampin' Up! is one of the corporate sponsors of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Each time Stampin' Up! holds a Regional workshop or the Annual Convention, the demonstrators attending create one of the make-n-take cards to be donated to RMHC. And in each Idea Book and Catalog, there is a stamp set designated for RMHC; $2 from the sale of each stamp set is donated to this worthy cause.

Sundays with Sizzix

Can you tell by now that I love, love, LOVE the Top Note Bigz die? It is so versatile. I have many more ideas for this die so you are just going to have patience with me in the coming weeks. Today's sample is a "Criss Cross" birthday card which my card club learned how to make last year. It also features the Green Tea designer series paper and round tab punch. How cute is that!

Inspired by Nature

Tomorrow is the first meeting of my Scrapbook Club. This club is sort of like a hostess club or a Stampers 10 club or my Card Club except the entire focus each time we meet is to create scrapbook pages.  At each club meeting one member is the hostess and earns free stamp sets and accessories and the minimum purchase each month for the club members is only $15. When I design a page I try to use stamp sets and accessories that can also be used for making cards or paper crafting projects so that my customers get the best value for their dollar.

Punch Pals

Laurie had a party at work this week and requested that her co-workers and friends make Christmas projects. We made two Holiday cards and for the the third project I decided they would make a 3-D project. I designed a post-it note holder using Punch Pals, Riding Hood Red and the new Riding Hood Red striped ribbon. This was easy to create but will make a nice inexpensive but cute gift during the holiday season.

Scandianvian Season

What do you get when you put four Scallop Envelopes together? Why, a Scallop Envelope Box of course!

A Season of Friendship

As demonstrators, we have the advantage of being able to preorder mini catalog stamp sets and accessories to create samples to share with you. When I got home from work today, there was a UPS box sitting on my front door step. I am sure you can imagine the excitement that caused!

Yes, it was my Holiday mini catalog preorder. But before you being fretting, you should know that the Holiday mini catalogs are being mailed to you this week (if you are on my mailing program) and this new mini is going to drive you crazy! It features several new stamp sets, awesome new Designer Series papers and has an entire section dedicated to the Big Shot. Thirty-two pages of deeeelicious!

As soon as I saw Season of Friendship I knew immediately it was the stamp set for me! It is so versatile and matches every season. Tonight at my fun Raleigh Meetup I had a chance to create this card. It also features the brand new Alpine ribbon. Yum!
